Yeah and also do it on a proper track

Sg dont even have a proper go kart track.

Thats why, we should have the Changi Airport runway open for track events during this covid period by SATS rather then serve 300 dollars nasi lemak on planes that dont fly.

Yup understand bro.

It's not the system (internet, social media), it's the user.

I don't get upset or lose sleep over the comments, just wondering if we can be kinder with words.

I'm not condoning the driver or the passengers for what they did, what they did is definitely wrong and so selfish and I agree that it's really fortunate that no other innocent pedestrians or road users were physically hurt.

yes, is fortunate no innocent pedestrians at the moment. However if really involve pedestrian and someone related definitely the mindset and thought will be differently...

Yes

but Thats still no reason for anyone to use public roads as a track unless fully prepped up as a track (F1)

Just remove speed cam along LCK.

Interesting thought. Speed cams on LCK and Changi Coast Road deter speedsters, so they go Tanjong Pagar Road...

Is ST trolling?

If there was a plea for people to show empathy and refrain from criticial comments can there also be some restraint from the media not to paint the deceased as angels?

天妒英才 huh?

Social Media, Online forum etc. is really a cruel place.

A lot of keyboard warriors hiding behind the screen making nasty and unnecessary comments.

They made a mistake and are already dead. Not saying everyone should pity them or sympathize with their families.

But sometimes if nothing better to say then maybe better to keep quiet.

I disagree to a point.  I feel we should not be toxic in comments (example? Disturb the family). OTOH, if there is such noise on the social media, no action will be taken.

In fact, iirc, the very day after the tragedy, there was another car race going on and another one slammed into a lamp post.  But no one died.

So the thing is, if there weren't the uproar and the toxic comments that came with it, authorities will just say no complaints and the carry on doing nothing much.   The big question is can a post or incident become viral without any toxic comments?  Maybe.  But for it to be viral, you need a lot of people to comment and inevitably, some will be toxic.

And at the back of my mind, I also wonder what long term action will the govt do regarding such racers after this tragedy.

The bolded comment, I agree to an extent.  Sometimes if something is not nice but it's the truth, it's best to say it.  Let's not over sanitise our speech.  But if we are saying something not nice just to get a two cents in, then better to keep quiet.

The one that hit the lamppost seems to be part of the same gang based on their social media posts.

Makes you wonder if working for an insurer is the only way they could afford car insurance at staff discount.
