So that's about $180-190K, about the same range with the Merc C and BM 3. In term of performance, tech and features, the Germans don't even come close. Really worth considering as my next car purchase. TM3 now even come with the summon feature. Really cool to use your mobile app to activate the car out from the parking lot and drive to you. Can't wait for the Tesla car showroom to open. At least can have a feel of the car. Don’t buy FSD prepurchase. You will be paying arf for the 11.5k option and turns out to be 27k. Instead buy it after collection or when the monthly subscription come out. as standard the car comes with autopilot which has auto steer n adaptive cruise control that can come to a stop. Fsd adds the capability to fully self drive next time. ↡ Advertisement

Dun quite make sense to pay extra tax for what is essentially software upgrade. But i want it though. more useful than 3.3secs IMHO. But if 3.3 secs car comes with longer range. Think i will buy the longer range one.
Vid Hypersonic February 22, 2021 Share February 22, 2021 Again, don't assume you can buy FSD after purchase. You smart, the govt also not stupid. FSD is gimmicky and not as fantastic as it suggest. Instant torque, quick acceleration, etc... One of the few cars I'd driven that can outrun a motorcycle from the traffic light. Very smooth on the road. The heavy battery gives it a low CG that is good at cornering. AWD Steering is sharp and responsive. One pedal drive is very interesting. Stopping is one of the few things that I really like about it. In a normal car, we use the brakes to stop and many times have to control it so that it doesn't jerk when it comes to a complete stop. With Tesla, the car stops beautifully every single time. Interior is ok, not fantastic. Tesla cars are not known for premium built.

Also they are coming out with a monthly subscription. Good for those who don’t intend to keep the car long. 1 hour ago, Vid said: Again, don't assume you can buy FSD after purchase. Don't waste money again, I don’t think Tesla will not sell u fsd after purchase. Technically buying extended warranty or services like bmw connected drive extension after delivery is also bypassing arf what? It’s hard to control this since it’s software. They might move to a subscription model where they charge gst, like Netflix or Spotify. gimmicky? I don’t think so. See the fsd beta in us. The car pretty much drives itself on highways and in city with almost no interventions. And it’s a beta. Imagine when the full fsd is released. That’s why it makes sense to buy it post delivery if u really want it. lrts hope they launch the long range rwd model or even awd model. Tax will be 1k ish cheaper but slightly longer range than performance.

You may be able to buy if you contact Tesla after delivery but certainly won't be an option that you can buy off the website or the app. FSD is pretty much developed for the US. To get that to work in Singapore, you need to get LTA's approval. If given the go ahead, then you will get to fully utilize it. Pretty much doubt that will happen quickly.

I predict it will be available to buy it in the app or web like rear heated seats activation. Even better if they launch a subscription based model. I don’t think I will drive my car for 10 years and would rather pay as u use. 11.5k for something which we don’t know when will be fully functional is a big sum. who knows? With the push for autonomous driving it might happen quickly. Anyway fsd now is a beta and still requires the user to operate the vehicle in principle. Just like any adaptive cruise control system here with all other Marques. When I tested the pi model 3 last year, the car already recognises stop signs, cones, pedestrians, bicycles, motorbikes, stop lights, buses emergency vehicles and traffic light along with green turn arrows. I don’t see why fsd beta can’t be launched here in the near future.
Vid Hypersonic February 22, 2021 Share February 22, 2021 I'll describe what FSD so everybody can have an idea what it does. From Tesla's website, you will get this - Full Self-Driving Capability Auto Lane Change: automatic lane changes while driving on the motorway. Autopark: both parallel and perpendicular spaces. Summon: your parked car will come find you anywhere in a car park. Really. Upcoming: Navigate on Autopilot: automatic driving from motorway on-ramp to off-ramp including interchanges and overtaking slower cars. Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control: assisted stops at traffic controlled intersections. Automatic driving on city streets. What you get is essentially the top 3 points. The upcoming stuff have been upcoming for a VERY long time and whether you get it or not in the near future is anybody's guess. Auto Lane Change is when the car is moving on the expressway. Not on normal road. You press on the signal stalk and the car automatically changes lane. Autopark is probably what you will use for those who are scared of parking, especially parallel. It is slow but it gets the job done. Personally, I have no use for this. Summon will bring the car to you ONLY if your phone can get a pinpoint GPS location. This is useful outdoors but if you are underground, like some carparks in Singapore are, you will not likely benefit much. That brings us back to only auto lane change which is remotely useful. Auto pilot is included as standard anyway so you get the car to drive for you while keeping in lane. This is why I think FSD is gimmicky. My 2 cents of course so if anyone strongly believes it to be a good deal, by all means go ahead and buy. There are talks that future FSD will be subscription based, maybe US$100-$150 a month, so you might want to lock in a fixed price now then later.
Intervuurt Neutral Newbie February 23, 2021 Share February 23, 2021 Hi all, I'm also keen on getting a Tesla and l'm wondering whether it is better to pre-order now or wait until Tesla has a showroom in Singapore. I tried asking in the Tesla website chat whether they would reduce the price of the car (following the cuts in US and Japan), or whether they could include certain freebies like floor mats, etc. but the response was really poor - "We can't comment if price will be reduced", and "no, we cannot include anything free". Given the high road tax, it would be nice if they threw in 12 month road tax. Separately, can anyone advise what is the government's rationale for charging such high road tax for EV cars? Surely it would make more sense to lower the road tax to encourage more EV rather than increase it! Am I missing something here? P.S. if anyone has booked the Tesla, do PM me so I can find out more from you. Thanks.

The only thing they cannot guarantee is the FSD price which might increase as and when new features are launched. If you buy after delivery, just log into your account and upgrade. Hi, if you are really keen and certain you want the car, do book it. you can always collect at a later date or just lose the $150 order fee. If you look at the cost breakdown, the 12 month road tax is included in the purchase price. If you take the performance model, floor mats are included in the purchase. It is true they cannot comment on the future pricing and model availability. however the sales advisor i spoke to mentioned that they have no fixed date on the physical showroom yet. and once it is launched, they expect a very long line for a test drive and are unsure about the future eta. Also, with a demand in orders, coe could go up causing the cars to be more expensive. I am also in the camp that feels the goverment should charge lower road tax for EVs but clearly they have a different approach. since no fuel is used and there is a loss of fuel revenue, the ev taxes should remain to offset the lost revenue. subsidising ev road tax will be akin to subsidising car ownership which is not in line with the car lite policies we have. If u ask me, all evs should have a fixed road tax since there is 0 tailpipe emissions. I have booked mine and if you have any questions pm me and I'll try to help. ↡ Advertisement
