Not sure why some guys said Tesla making a loss maybe I make a mistake in calculation.

Can someone clarify this?

Assuming OMV of 50k

50 x 2.27 + 0.4 x 30 (Tier tax) = 125.5k (cost without COE)

After rebate of 45k is 80.5k right?

While I am aware of the selling price in US (which already include profits by Tesla), it sort of make little sense to price it with profit and declare the total amount as its OMV. I derived the OMV from the estimated ARF from Tesla Singapore website, and when I input the figure into my costing spreadsheet, this is what I got.

If the selling price is what ST article has claimed (i.e. $145K - $215K), Tesla is going to make a lost for every car sold.

In fact, I have discovered another potential error with the info provide on Tesla website, i.e. the road tax payable.

Using this formula from LTA, the 12 month road tax for Standard Range Plus (239KW) and Performance (377KW) variant should be $4,626 and $8,078 respectively (including a lump sum tax of $200/yr for EV).

Not logistical for Tesla to adopt such pricing strategy just to attract new customers, especially when they are going to make a lost.

Bro, the price you stated above is the barebone version le.

I went through the configurator yesterday wrote the following:

Quote

Pearl White Model 3 18" wheel with black interior starts from $112,345 excl COE

Change colour (Excl. Red) will add 4k.  Red: 7.5k

19" wheel: $4.7k

White Interior: $3.5k

Autopilot: $27k

===============

Change to Black exterior, 19" wheel & white interior.

Add Autopilot.

Tota Price 152k before COE.

Many grab driver will convert to taxi. Drive tesla, chiet anyone until u also cannot smell smoke :D

It depends on what is daily rental.

If it increase to $150/day, do you think driver will rent it?

For your information, booking comfort taxi is cheaper than Grab.

27k for auto pilot is steep. Maybe can "upgrade" over the air after the car is registered, and won't have to pay the ARF!

Who installs the hardware?

Ah Beng or Ah Seng?

To answer your question:

Full self driving capability for the car is a software update. The hardware is already built into the car.

YES, they are charging you that much for the software. It is optional.

Already stated on their website that the price for it will increase over time.

So, don't expect to get it for cheaper buying it AFTER delivery.

That means need to pay them to activate the hardware.  Otherwise, it is just dead weight.

I am guessing that it can't be activated after delivery.  It will be deemed as tax avoidance.

It CAN be activated after delivery. I am sure it will be the full price including any relevant taxes and it will be MORE than if buying it before delivery.

All this info is already stated on Tesla's website by the way.

You are misunderstanding that the hardware does not do anything if it is not unlocked for full self driving.

The hardware still does autopilot (included in the basic car price). But, you need to pay if you want the same hardware to do full self driving.

Is the same hardware installed?

Does the same hardware do anything if the software is not installed?

The hardware is already in the vehicle. It seems to be the case when reading from the website.

The hardware is artificially dumbed down in its functionality through the basic Autopilot software (limited functions) which comes with either Model 3 variant. IIRC, you need to pay $11k more for the full Autopilot software which unlocks the hardware for enhanced autonomous driving capabilities.

The disclaimer states that the cost of the software will go up as new functions are added to the later versions. It might be a better deal to pay upfront $11k first so that you may enjoy all the future Autopilot updates at zero cost. Else, expect to pay more if one decides to retrofit the full software later on.

I guess that's how they sell the whole thing.

It is not 11k.

It is 27k.

Your road tax calculation is incorrect. The value of $2525 shown on the Tesla website is correct (exclude the extra $200 flat component for 2021)

If u are the type to buy a tesla, buying one without autopilot is kinda missing the point [laugh]
Whether u think 27k is worth it for software is up to you...

i think lethalstrike is talking in terms of USD.

In Tesla Sg, it is shown as $11k option.

When tick that option, the amount added is 27k.
