Now, I may have missed something but....... Can it be confirmed the huge landslide the government won wasn't in fact fraudulent?

Aung has not covered herself in glory these last year's, not stopping ethnic cleansing.

At some point, MAYBE, the idea/ideal we have about a person is not, in actual fact, correct?

Yes, sure, she was the figure of hope whilst locked up at home for many years and was the idea of a democratic, grown up society but can that be enough to swing such a large victory. Okay, so banning Rhohinga from taking part is the start of a "fix" so the best we should say is..... neither side is right?

Of course it was fraudulent.

Just like how my BFF Trumpet was cheated cheated out of the presidency.

:D

Don't trust the fake news that Michelle Yeoh won the election.

I assure you she did not.

What has the Rhohinga got to do with the election?

You mean they voted against her and voted for the generals to punish her?

It was not her that did anything, it was the soldiers.

:D

Sadly its about generals losing their corrupt business now that they have been voted out of power.

The management of the Rohingya was a poison pill for Aung San. Sarpork, she can keep the marjority of support, against she would have lost a large number. You have to know Myanmar to know the intrinsic discrimination and societal norms. Think Rohingya as George Floyd. Good riddance to bad rubbish and all that. Sad as it is.

Whose to say a politician that is willing to do so is not willing to have corrupt support.

Strategy wise, a retreat to lead to a rout. The next phase would be the military government obtain a semblance of support from a number of detainees and move on with regulated democratisation.

A mob call is indication of no plan or organization.

Supporters of Aung San have to realize the larger picture beyond Myanmar and what they want. Should Myanmar become another festering lesion as NK from Asian people.

Way I see it, the military government has won, although not quite in the bag yet.

Corrupt kurupt????

Sau Cau Mar

After a few months, people will forget about the coup and then we will see pinky, Muhyiddin and Duterte et al doing the cross hands shake with  Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in front of multiple cameras for the world to see.

This has happened so many times on "coup leaders" I have lost count. This is BAU in SEA. Even petty pinky can deal with this.

Burma used to be one of the richest countries in Asia but 50 years of mismanagement and they are at the bottom now.

Pot and whistles? They need guns.

Thailand next door already showed the way on how to transform from military uniform to civilian clothes while retaining power. Just use the same template with some customization for Myanmar context should do. [laugh]

I doubt this part of the world believe in democracy much. Of the 10 members of ASEAN, 6 are authoritarian regime and the rest of are flawed democracies according to the latest Democracy Index. Even "Magic" Malaysia managed to score the highest Democracy Index point amongst the 10 ASEAN nations and that says a lot about the rest, ahem. I find this quite amusing.

democracy must to be won with blood, sweat, and tears

it will not be handed out to you on a silver platter

We shall protest on the beaches,

we shall protest on the landing grounds,

we shall protest in the fields and in the streets,

we shall protest in the hills,

we shall never surrender our democracy.
