I loves Mercedes, Mazda due to their premium feel inside ! But ended up stick to Toyota Harrier instead. Reason being i heard a merchanic guy from outside workshop quoted a man with his E class with some issues and need to change some parts and was quoted $5k for the repair cost.

My husband colleagues driving an E class recently change don't know what absorbers cost $10k include bla bla bla..

That time i was driving a french car. The mechanics guys told me want to feel shiok shiok while driving, go for European car if pocket deep enough on standby for wear and tear.. But if you want practical, less headache, stick to Japan car like Toyota and Honda. Less frequent to car workshop.

The boss of the car workshop also driving a Japanese car and he imported himself. He told me faster scrap the french car and stick to Japanese car. Lol.

Agree. French made cars are notorious for poor reliability.

I have been driving old Mercedes for about 6 years, never did I have to spend $5k or $6k to repair anything so expensive before. But I think the autotrans repair cost  of the 7G-tronic onwards  might be more expensive. But even if I have to spend $5k at certain point in time,  I am prepared to pay for that better driving experience. As long as not everything  $5k, $5k, $5k and $5k.....😅😅

Agree, Japanese reliability is proven. Then again look at some of the  better european brands, their OMV can be easily double of the equivalent Japanese made for good reasons, and likewise, we can expect some of the unique parts to be expensive.  But many other parts can use OEM parts, from coil, shocks, lower arms etc etc, so the maintenance cost is not that scary.
