Singapore is very warm.

Actually its damn hot.

When people read cold start it means like Europe countries in winter with snow.

If the oil is not synthetic then it's like honey and not fully flowing until it warms up.

In Singapore it never gets that cold that you need to warm up.

Just get in and go but if you are tracking and going to redline your car then you need to get the oil up to operating temp.

Then only redline after at least 5 mins of normal driving.

:D

@Jamesc @Tkseah I just start and drive. More wear and tear but this only felt if you drive for more than 10 years. After which you will want to do an overhaul if intend to drive another 10 years. Don't get yourself tied up over the little things. 🙂

Hi, how diligent are you'll in waiting for the engine cold light to go off before moving off? In the morning, I realise that it takes about 5 minutes for the light to go off. What's your take. Is it a must really wait for the light to go off? At what temperature does the light goes off?

Don’t bother waiting 5 mins. Just start engine, adjust a bit, put on seat belt and drive off gently at carpark.

If you are in Canada when the winter is harsh in sub zero degree, then you really need to warm up.

When I in Germany with -10deg temperature, office is 15mins drive away from hotel.

The engine oil don't even reach operating temperature when reach. How to wait?

I just start and drive off.

Time for me to change tyres. Anyone has replaced their default Potenza with the quieter Turanza? Any other quiet tyres to recommend ? 🙂

The engine noise so loud, any quiet tyre also useless. I’m also driving one btw so not trying to troll you.

True. Manual for my ride also states just start and drive off. Just that before reaching operating temperature, don't drive hard that's all. Having driven two rides for more than 10 years each, I don't see any issue without warming up. Some already said our weather is not like those cold countries. Warming up of engine is really unnecessary here.

I switched from the stock Potenza S001 after it wore out, to the Yokohama AE-50, which supposedly had lower rolling resistance and softer sidewall. Was quite satisfactory and quieter. After it also wore out, changed to Potenza RE004 195/50/R15. Upsized the tread width as shop did not have 185/55, but the tyre itself is performing well so far, maybe due to its wider footprint. Like what @Fcw75 said, NVH already so loud so might as well put performance tyres which give you better peace of mind with regards to safety.

ok thanks guys but the noisier engine only bothered me during the first 1-2 weeks. After that, not at all. When cruising its pretty quiet. But I do hear alot of road noise from the Potenzas and heard the Turanzas are quieter. I previously used the Yokohama Aspec DB and they were pretty quiet too. 🙂

Neutral Newbie

I just collected my new attrage. The steering feels very stiff especially when making small adjustments. Most importantly, the steering wheel sticks to the direction of turning and does not turn back to center 'automatically' after turning. Is this normal?

Yes, unlike many cars, the steering does not turn back automatically. Also, since it is a new car, you will probably need 2 weeks or more to adjust to its characteristics, especially if you are too used to your old car. No worries, you will get used to it 🙂
