The items included a mobile phone, a laptop and a digital camera. Once gazetted, if any of the items were to surface at a second-hand dealer or at a lost-and-found, it would trigger a notification to the police.

Hmm..... did he sell away something that lead to him?

Sorry for my lacking vocab.. What 'special power' does CID have that normal police don't have? Quick google search shows that CID is under SPF after all.

How come in 2007 'interview' no clues could be extracted from the 2 suspects but this time immediately got charge against this Ahmad? I'm quite curious what is the incriminating evidence that was found.

Normal policemen handle many cases a day during their shift of duties and if there are no circumstantial evidents as a lead to open an investigation, it will normally file as Missing Person Report. There were interviews made but benifit of doubt were given to them as the victim was 19 yrs old and mature level enough of understanding to oneself. Men at 18 yrs are already firing rifles in NS.

Whereas, CID officers (working in teams) are specialised in their fields to ivestigate anything that is abnormal and even with a small lead to start the investigation.

Missing Person reports are not made and file forever in the cabinets. It will only close the investigations when the person making the initial report, closed it personally or the missing person found. As for those cases still hanging on, it will be review yearly until some new leads receive and the file re-open for investigation.

Why 13 years, there could be some new leads found leading to the arrest. Sorry....:a-whiteflag: although I am retired from the force, I cannot revealed how the investigations process works.  [lipsrsealed]

If you can remember, there was a case back in the 70's where 2 young boys (below 12 yrs) went missing at Owen Road.

Till now the file still open once a while and even CrimeWatch appeal to the public for any leads to the case. :lll._.:

There was also the case of two social escorts back in the late 70s who went onboard a ship and disappeared. Till now, no news!

I think this case is early 80s, MacDonald even put out reward of S$100k for anyone help found the boys.

But this one is very intriguing. The cctv captured the girl went up with the guys to the flat but after that, just "disappeared" with no sign of coming out.

I can understand people go missing for various reasons but once a police report is filed by concerned parties, shouldn't there be a focus on the 2 men given the bizarre circumstances?

I'm quite stumped the police searched the unit and interviewed the 2 men without any incriminating leads thereafter.

13 years are a long time taken to solve this case when the murderers are just right there at the onset of the crime.

A little bit of professional skepticism and inquisitive mind by the investigators is all it is needed?

this is the new lead after 13 years ... i wonder what is the "link" that cannot be done 13 years ago until now

using some sort of new tech? [confused]

Quote

A breakthrough came after the CID uncovered new leads while tracing the belongings that were believed to be in Ms Teo's possession when she was reported missing, said the police.

Media reports then said Ms Teo had her mobile phone and laptop with her, among other items, when she vanished.

The CID managed to link one of her belongings to Ahmad Danial.

what "new evidence" that the police now has ...

that can clasify this as  "murder" (missing person previously assumed) and link to the "suspects" (2 guys?)

no details yet? after 13 years suddenly found new evidence? [confused]

I believe all detail will need to wait for the court hearing.
