I was one of the first to sign up with starhub because they gave incoming free and I saved a lot of money.

But when they first started they did not have enough cell towers. So after a while the call get cut off but so many people signed up with them the other two slow laggards also reluctantly gave incoming free.

Support the underdog that give the better deal and force the big boys to follow.

:D

IMHO.
I always try to tell people not on Starhub, M1 or TPG all the positive aspects of these telcos and network.
What I never tell them is that secretly,  I wish they would move to them.   There will be lessen congestion with my telco. 🤣

Good idea.

Most important is home fibre.

If everyone use same telco then very slow.

Lucky all my neighbors went red and I went green. I think my block no one on Orange.

Too bad I convert cable to fiber so went green.

If not I would go orange and have fast internet all to myself.

By the way times are hard now, less stewardess to rub and used car business slow, everyone only buying NEW cars and complaining coe so high, coe so high

so I had to tighten my belt and downgrade from 1 gb to 500 mbps and guess what no one noticed in the family.

No one complain internet slow.

:D

My tip unless you are a professional gamer then 500 is all you need.

My kids say they are professional gamers. I said don't make me laugh. You are professionals when people PAY you to game.

Eh... since no difference,  ask you neighbor to .....

IMHO.
It takes a lot of effort to saturates even 500Mbps.
I open 6-4k youtube and 2-8k youtube,  the ethernet peaked at around 180 Mbps.

I think 500 or 1 gb don't matter.

If all the neighbors using at the same time then will slow the speed down.

:D

People in my block please don't get green.

AFIAK,  cable is like that but not fiber.   The congest is shifted somewhere else.
As such, I urge you to ask the people at your block to go green.   They will put in more bandwidth?

Actually I never wanted to go fiber. My cable speed was always so constant.

Fiber speed can jump up and down.

And my cable was 200 mbps and that's fast enough.

I love cable and hate fibre.

Supersonic

Cable has a bandwidth restriction. It can only carry so much data. So the trick is to split the traffic before it bcums overloaded during busy hour. Cable data is aggregated into fibre networks previously, it's just now "the last mile" is fibre instead of cable.

Fibre is not magic, it also has bandwidth restriction, but typically 10x more than cable.

The cable speed is constant because it is constantly slow.

i worked with starhub before. they have 24 hours monitoring  of all the networks.

When 1 is down it is very obvious, network traffic just dropped to zero.

Immediately alarm bells go off

So really there's no need to call CSO, they already know the problem and is working on it. The more you call, the more you jammed up the lines, but the problem solving is still continuing in the background, and you won't get any answers, how long, why,  etc.

Obviously, all the big telcos have monitoring stations, or network/data centre.

Yes. Should just wait a while. then go facebook and see if many people are there to kpkb on m1 page. If no one kpkb, then only you have the problem then really need to jump.
