Err... so any recommendation what's the best one for a student getting a hand phone for the first time?

Zero1 to teach them data buffet consumption.

6gb then throttling liao. But still enough for use.

My girls phone got the curfew lock. Only can be opened by my wife.

I am giving my P5 son the $8 eight.

Conditions

- allow papa/mama to use the parent link app to monitor "restrict" his usage.

- no phone to be allow in school. Use his smart watch instead for location tracking.

- I got a smart tag attached to his wallet as well.

All the above conditions must agreed wholeheartedly otherwise no handphone. 😁

Has anyone used any non Samsung smart tag before?

I don't use Samsung nor Apple.

Parents link can monitor individual app usage. Also the phone can be lock remotely. There is also a function to track the phone(son) location.

My son is going to P1. I'm worried about his location.

Is there a reasonable "smart watch" that can allow me to track his location ?

haha primary 1 no need to worry bah as long as there's someone at the school gate when he's released.

smart tag more useful if the kid needs to walk/cycle school by him/herself

I know apple tag bounces off apple phones which are common here.

Samsung is the 2nd most common, so it's ok.

Not sure if these other tags are only for users of that particular ecosystem. USA got different brands, but the adoption here is close to zero.

My son got this in p1 and p2

P3 and p4 he insisted on this model. This watch come with whatapp function. Adding contact/messaging still under parent control though.

There is one more useful function for smart tag.

Lost of property! We tied it to his wallet. Within an academic year on average wifey need to venture into his school (with permission of course) to track the location down. Everyear at least once. Twice alone in 2024!  😮‍💨

Your daughter should be in sec 1 next year.

Probably can use the parent control function by Google on her phone. Parent control can use to track the phone location as well.

Oppo?

Not for my girl.

But in general like my younger son and maybe my mum (she has dementia). My sister has a smart tag on her bag.

Is it durable?

Before all these reached singapore, i got see the ones on taobao etc using the 3g network. But the durability like not there according to some reviews.

But since we pick up my kids daily. So quite easy for them just to go general office to use the phone if got any issue.

Durability wise pretty subjective. The one we bought has local repair services in singapore. We bought it from shopee, local authorised dealer.

The first watch it lasted my son from p1 to p2. Hardly any function except calling/receiving call from me and wife. Sometime took some pictures with that tiny camera. 😆 lesser functions last longer.

The other one with whataspp functuon we got it replaced after one year of usage.  Screen turned less responsive after a few months. Subsequently he cracked the screen as well. Probably dropped on the floor. Not worthwhile to replace the screen. It cost around 50 or 60 dollar if remembered correctly just for the screen.
