Kyrios Turbocharged December 22, 2020 Share December 22, 2020 (edited) So ban flights from UK liao beh...and check to see if any if these visitors flew in from other countries but originated or transited in UK. The UK govt is kind and honest enough to share info about these new superbugs so lets not let the intelligence go to waste. If this strain were to land on our shores..gone is our CNY liao...i suspect so far the unusually warm and hot december is helping us but...we never will know dont we.. I mean there is no reason whatsoever to put the vaccines there for publicity photos... you are a leader and do you expect all your subordinates to pose a photo with the vaccines and post on facebook??? Or is it just a privilege for minister? sometimes I wonder about the calibre of some of our minister.

All the recent border closings and cancellation of flights from the UK make for good theater but it's a bit too little too late. The new strain (B.1.1.7) was sequenced from 2 samples in the UK back in September 2020. And given the length of time and speed it has been spending through England and London in particular, with this particular strain being responsible for 28 per cent of infections in London by early November and 62 per cent in the week ending December 9. London is a major aviation hub and would simply mean that the strain is worldwide by now. Living in interesting times indeed.

Based on data up to Dec 19, there are 20 imported cases from the UK for the month of Dec. Of which 10 are citizen and 5 are PR. Should we ban our citizen (with flight ban) from coming back? Comparatively, there are only 7 imported cases from UK (1 citizen & 1 PR)
inlinesix Hypersonic December 22, 2020 Share December 22, 2020 Yesterday community case is scary. https://www.moh.gov.sg/news-highlights/details/1-new-case-of-locally-transmitted-covid-19-infection_21Decupdate Quote There is 1 case in the community today who is currently unlinked. Case 58662 is a Singaporean who is asymptomatic and was detected when she was tested for COVID-19 before a scheduled cruise trip. She was conveyed in an ambulance to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases the following day, when her test came back positive for COVID-19 infection. The National Public Health Laboratory has run further tests to verify that she is positive for COVID-19 infection. Her serological test result is pending. She stays at Jurong West Street 93, and had been at work at Ruising Chemicals Pte Ltd (18 Boon Lay Way) before her test result was confirmed. It was revealed that on 14 December, she and her family had gone on a Southern Islands tour with 2 other families, totaling 12 persons in all. Investigations are ongoing to assess if there had been any breach of the relevant safe management measures. Epidemiological investigations are in progress. In the meantime, all her identified close contacts, including her family members and co-workers, have been isolated and placed on quarantine and will be tested at the start and end of their quarantine period so that we can detect asymptomatic cases. We will also conduct serological tests on her household and family contacts to determine if she could have been infected by them.

I think it's already too late to just ban flights from UK border. I won't say that UK is kind or honest because it first appears in back in September and they only share it with us this week. Quote Backwards tracing using genetic evidence suggested that the variant first emerged in September, said government agency Public Health England (PHE). It then circulated at “very low levels” in the population until mid-November. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/world/covid-19-coronavirus-new-strain-variant-uk-britain-13817858 1
