i think it target at online purchase, many seller use singpost or send by mail, my mail box will jam up with just 2-3 items.

and some time overseas delivery use singpost as last leg and we won't know whether someone will knock at the door or inside mailbox. It is good if there is a notification to let me know it arrived.

Ya actually, have notification is also not too bad idea. At least people can know when things are put into the letter box, it is an additional feature that is nice to have, if don't have can also live with it. Just that the cost wise must not be too expensive to justify the nice to have.

Moronic waste of money. I oredi check mailbox once a day or every 2 days max. Will make zero difference to me but must cost $$$. What use is this and how much extra red tape for the poor postman who have to register each item with the correct unit

Expand

Actually if there is sensor that detect letter or parcel being put into letter box and then sent out notification to home users, it would be better and more user friendly to all. Instead of now going to make the post man job more difficult and it is only a nice to have feature only.

Don't understand all the negativity here. It is just a trial.

Don't mind getting rid of my mailbox key and go keyless. If system can save space - soon most people will go paperless - yet accommodate bigger items (as boxes are not preassigned) and use less material to build, why not?

With all the paper bills and bank statements going e-digital, the future postbox will serve more and more as a shopping bag, the current one will become a dinosaur.

Looks like a letter vending machine. If one household doesn't collect its mail for 6 months would it jam up the whole storage space? 🤔

They should also add a Bluetooth/RFID/NFC interface to work with the trace together token/phone. Scanning QR is slow.

My bet is this is going to be another failed project like the hydrogen cars, cooked food vending etc....

Erm.. I think to really go e-digital there is still a long way to improve. Current e-digital is just quite troublesome for many. Like some need to key in password in order to access. Yes I understand it is for security in place. Then there are some need to login to company website or what and then download and retrieve it. Some even need 2 factor authentication 1st then able to go in and download the pdf file, after which still need to also key in password in order to access.

I believe that for e-digital, many people might just never open to see it or perhaps forget to open to see it if bills are paid by giro as compared to paper bills that almost all will open and see it right? That's when there will have situations where let's say there is annual credit card fee in the statement, if by mail 100% people will open and noticed it and give bank a call to want to wave or what. E-digital, I think there will have some who might have overlooked and then just pay through giro as they never notice the bill to look at it. There are also many that elderly that are also a very big concern that they can't keep up the pace with e-digital.

I suddenly have an idea.

Why not continue to have letterbox located at blk below and make some improvements.like have senor to detect any letters / parcel inside. If have then it will project red or green light on that letterbox outside. So household go there see the letterbox is lighted up means go letters/parcel in that letterbox. Once they take out all the letters / parcel, the light goes off. So got light mean got letter / parcel, no light means letterbox is empty.

Like that people do not need to physically open the letterbox Everytime to see whether there is any letters or parcel in the letterbox. They can from far look whether go light or no light. Got light, go open letterbox. No light non need waste time open.

Nowadays, mail man only deliver mail every 2 days.  This is a good idea.  In addition, it could save up precious real estate.  No need so many post box.

Expand

By moving towards smart letterbox, no designated letterbox for each household.  Where got junk mail in postbox?

On the other hand, these junk mail will move to your doorstep
