I think there need to have higher penalty for drink driving and met into accident, especially combine with speeding super fast and cause big accident like this.

Perhaps when a person is drunk and met into accident, yes insurance can say due to drunk driving so the affected party that sway involved in the accident will not be able to claim from that drunk driver. However we should not let that drunk driver get away easilly. It should be make such a way that police can charge that drunk driver to court and order that person to pay for the other party damage. If he can't pay, then make that person bankrupt. Beside bankrupt, increase that driver mimimum license suspension to at least 3 years and above after that person get released fro. Jail. That is beside the normal jail term and etc..

There are more reports of drink driving since CB.

Does having a higher penalty helps?

Not necessary.

For 1st time offender, there is a 2 years license suspension.

Does it stop ppl from driving without a valid driving license?

Our problem here is NOT THE PENALTY.

Rather it is LACK OF ENFORCEMENT.

That 2010 Kia Forte is a COE car, so it will be written off, and value is pro rated COE value.

It's under 3rd party insurance, so damages to the car is borne by car owner who is unlikely to repair the damage.

To an insurer, it is ZERO market value.

That's what I am saying.. Higher penalty including that the affected party involved no need go through lenghty and costly process to sue to claim from that drunk driver that caused the accident. It should be automatic that that drunk driver will get charged and whatever amount on the repair cost for the affected party, that drunk driver need to pay. If that driver can't pay, then need to declare bankrupt. If not that drunk driver got away too easily and the affected party suffer the most..

For ppl without any assets or professional consideration, bankrupt is an ez route for them.

Need to tong 3 years to get through the process.

Meanwhile, the victim has to suffer financially either with a higher premium or out-of-pocket repair.

Wanbao update the red Kia driver was arrested for drink driving. Half an hour after the accident, a motorcyclist rear ended a TP car that was at the scene. The motorcyclist was also arrested for drink driving

If the blue car driver and/or passenger mati, should hang the b**tard from the lamppost nearest the accident scene to serve as a deterrent.

i think should be able to claim as long as that kia is under insurance protection .

but that kia driver himself cannot claim own insurance to repair his own car cos he is drunk.

should be like this??

Then what is your solution?

I mean that is additional of what is of current penalties. At least if there is additional proceeding to charge that driver to go bankrupt. That person then also will not be able to buy new car and etc also what. So that also can get rid of that driver that should not be deserved on the road.

if you got expired road tax and unpaid fines then you're not allowed to overtake LOL

LTA really sleeping. Many others like this. Should just seize and send to scrap yard without any rebates for vehicles with no road tax/insurance.

Alternatively, make it legal for anyone to smash the windscreens of cars with expired road tax. "The Purge" of these cars!

Ppl who has nothing to lose don't care about whatever you said above.

The short-term solution is to put more cops on the road daily at night.

People who has nothing to lose also will just drive like crazy, speeding and drunk driving with or without the additional measures to charge them for bankruptcy.

Yes, additional resources on manpower and more frequent petrol. But then everywhere short of man power how? Then when government want to put camera everywhere for the safer of public and with AI support, people complaint that it invade their privacy. Like that how?
