I suppose most buyers won't even know that there is a more powerful engine? I am thinking that the choice of the less powerful engine is to meet emission standards here... apparently ours is one of the strictest in the world now... ↡ Advertisement

Hyundai has been plugging away at the luxury car market since 2008 with the model called Genesis. Later in 2015, it became a standalone outfit.

Yah interesting, seems like the new trend in mid-range is 4cylinder 2.5l turbo, up from 2.0l. Toyota supposed to be coming out with a 2.4l turbo for next release also. Maybe got other resisticton in using hydrogen fuel that we dun know of.? But this hydrogen run car is not picking up at all. Now battery can be recycle and more effective and cheaper smaller safer battery is coming out. China and eu already got schedule to phrase out combustion engine . Most of us will get to see it. I think even sg also lay out a plan already

I also think FCEV is the eventual way forward. I imagine in-situ hydrogen production at current fuel stations, without having to transfer the gas from plant to site. Fill up in 5 mins and go, just like fossil fuels. The challenge now is to bring H2 production costs down, which I believe will happen someday. Battery power is the interim solution and will seem so archaic by then.
Gliazzurra 1st Gear October 27, 2020 Share October 27, 2020 So far no dealer interested to bring in Genesis? Such a shame cause Genesis has all the potential to do well here, esp if they can undercut German competition on price..

Same old 2.0T, 3.3 V6 and 2.2TD (for Korean market). After first providing a glimpse of the refreshed 2022 Genesis G70 in September, the South Korean premium marque is now fully unveiling the updated sedan. The vehicle goes on sale in its home market first and then launches elsewhere, like the US, in 2021. The Genesis G70's proven turbocharged, 2.0-liter, inline four-cylinder and twin-turbocharged, 3.3-liter, V6 carry over, as does the 2.2-liter, turbodiesel engine. All models benefit from the newly added "Sports+" drive mode, which further optimizes engine and transmission programming, allowing drivers to take full advantage of the G70's performance potential. In addition, the 3.3-liter V6 with Sports package benefits from the addition of a Variable Exhaust Valve System, which gives the car a more aggressive exhaust signature, and a new Dynamic AWD System offers a built-in drift mode.

Fat_slayer 4th Gear October 29, 2020 Share October 29, 2020 If this G70 comes to Singapore and pricing is lower than IS300 and 3er, it will be a serious contender. I might be swayed too.
