Take turn la spurs long time no win, let son hold the trophy for once

This time last year, Spurs fans were saying that “they did a deal with the devil (JM)”. A well liked Mgr (Pochettino) playing attacking football had just been sacked n replaced by the negative thinking n controversial Mourinho.

I personally felt it was the wrong choice. Spurs with the tight fisted Levy appointing the spendthrift Jose was on paper a mismatch. JM methods were considered outdated against the high press styles of Pep n Klopp. Fast forward 1 yr later n Spurs are now top of the table. Things can change pretty quickly in football. I still feel Spurs won’t win it but they are certainly in with a shout for top 4.

Next Sunday big match is Chelsea v Spurs!

To continue on JM, whilst I felt it was a wrong choice of appointment; I fully understand why Spurs wanted him. Love him or hate him, u got to admit he is a serial winner. His ugly methods n pushing the boundaries way of doing things are nvr liked by the opposition fans. Spurs are desperate for silverware n JM’s track record of delivering trophies in as early as his second season at Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real n Man United means he is due for a trophy this season at Spurs. His best chance is the League Cup and UEL, possibly FA Cup as well.

Liverpool showed why they are Champs by beating previous leaders Leicester 3-0 despite their injury issues. They set a new club record of 64 unbeaten home games. The EPL record of 86 home games unbeaten by Chelsea is still some way off though.

that depends.

is simply keeping procession passing around beautiful football?? not really to me.

how jm set up his def with only 30% of the ball. how to keep man c  at bay to 1/2 chance or just long shot and crossing the ball in is beautiful in my eyes.

how his team break and fast counter is even more beautiful to watch.

its easier to play attacking football like man c. ( every 1 love to go up and attack )

but to be able to train his player like jm, every 1 from striker to def tracking their player across the field, this is extremely hard to do.

Agreed, to each his own.

Possession football (aka tiki taka) which was Barca’s forte is also boring frankly. The high press style of today’s top teams is not for everyone and needs high levels of fitness n concentration which not every team is blessed with. That said, parking the bus is negative to me but it has to be done on occasions when the opponents attacking strengths are too overwhelming so to be fair, it has its place in the game as well.

The trouble with JM is that he has a history of controversy like verbal swipes at other Mgrs n even his own players, also at referees and even underhanded means of winning like how he hid in the laundry basket when banned for UCL match etc. So his critics are always ready to hit him. Ironically, this phrase of park the bus was his phrase when Spurs went to the Bridge and played defensively to hold out for a draw. Now this phrase is used as a stick to beat him with, how ironical!

ya the problem with JM is not his tatics, its his mouth.

i watch chelsea vs newcastle.

newcastle was even more defensive then spurs is, even when they are 1 goal down, they keep defending refusing to come out.

only in 2nd half newcastle are slightly more open up.

many other team play this way. but no 1 complain expect when jm go defensive.

Spurs has been doing very well before Pool's ascend up the table starting 2 seasons ago. It's a pity that they couldn't find the breakthrough and couldn't keep up with City's start of the dominance, and then Pool's. They are also very fortunate that somehow, most of the big stars stayed put and didn't jump ship. With Son and Kane scoring lots at the moment, if they can get Bale going, then they have a decent shot at the top. But their defence isn't fantastic (then again, which club's is... 🤣), so they are also not without weakness.

Chelsea v Spurs will be interesting. Pls don't tell me it's those 1.30 am or 3.30 am matches though... 😅

Yeah funny if City cannot get into top 4

and Man C cannot sack him without paying a lot of money.

City stupid should have only sign contract at end of season.

I bet all foortball managers are smarter now since players are earning more than them, so in a way, many mercenary players and managers has offer coming in however thy are stuccoed till contract expiry so can only sign 1/2 yrs contract extension, PepG definitely has offer/s coning in and i was thinking he has plan not to leave so as not to offend the big boss Arab . . .

Football is a revolving game and will continue to do so, but then we fans are restricted to waft alone at home, feeling very different de w/o the shouting and screaming of " Gooooooaaal, hosay liao "  [laugh]

Spoiler

The difference is Newcastle is a mid-table team at most while the once almighty Man U is traditionally a Big 6 Team. When smaller teams play defensive against one of the big teams, we think that is strategy. When Man U plays defensive under Jose, this is unacceptable. Even their own fans cannot stomach that!

If u see leeds, everton and astonvilla they are all not in top 6 team yet they can offer entertaining football without spending huge sum on buying players.

yeah i agree man u sucks under ole now, need change manager

Pep is reading this and screws up Liverpool's future plans.

But City needs a striker and they should buy Kylian Mbappé.

i bet pep and man c will come good.

The game has evolved a lot, and is still evolving i'm sure.

To the neutrals - or any spectators - it is definitely more exciting to watch attacking soccer. I remember when i was young, i preferred Big League Soccer overwhelmingly c.f. to Football Made in Germany, both on B/W tv... the reason was cos BLS keep attacking, but FMG kept passing the ball backwards once the attack on one flank faced any obstacles (defenders), then will pass back to goalie, then to the other flank... watched whole match also like won't score one... 🤣

ironically, that seems to be the style that many teams - include Pool - plays now. Good thing they can normally score (and win, hopefully), or else...

JM indeed in controversial. Love him or hate him... it's now open secret that Pool tried to sign him before benitez. I still wonder if he had ended up as Pool Mgr, would he be loved or hated...

It's high time to abolish the stupid rule of not letting keepers to move until penalty takes took the kick.

Manure survived the game because of this rule.
