You only stay in a job if you have no choice, you have bills to pay and you really need the money.

If you have a choice then one day stressed out and unhappy means you can never get that day back again as the number of days we have is limited.

You not going to live forever and do you really want to waste another day being unhappy?

But also remember if you leave your job before getting another job at the interview if you are not working you have no bargaining position on salary.

They will just say take it or leave it.

Still in a job if they don't offer what you want you can say pay so low why should I leave to join you?

Human Resource people are all heartless one.

when i say i want to move to another industry. I mean move to something related to sports or health. Maybe Physio or rehab assistant. I have enjoy going for runs/gym. Maybe i have been thinking to move industry already and have gone for short course on sport massage; only to find out i cannot massage myself.

There are a**holes everywhere, but the higher you climb the more a**holes you meet. So i want to go for low level, low pay, low stress job.

I may also discover i do not like being in new industry; but i do not want to regret not giving it a shot. Especially when i can do it.

You said you like you old job - What's stopping you from taking back your old job or something similar in another company?

Maybe talk to your boss about your problems? Like you prefer to hands on then management? See whether is there workaround for u.

This advice will back fire. No boss like to be told they are wrong in their "judgment".

I have been in engineering industry for many years, but recently the work scope is becoming unbearable. I used to love getting my hands dirty and getting things done, but after promoting to my current position, i now have to face many problems. Nowadays i cannot sleep properly, stressing about work.

As i am debt free, I am thinking whether i should quit and move into another industry and start all over again.

Can you ask your boss for a demotion to your previous job?

If he must promote you, increase your pay and add 'Senior' infront of job title. If already senior then use 'Meritus'. 😅😅😂😂😂

A new industry may or may not be your cup of teh or kopi. To me, its just open your mouth and ask your boss. Afterall you have already proven your worth in company and experienced staff are not always easy to find.

Just my take on things.

Good luck and hope you take good care of yourself, mental health too.

Stay safe

Cheers

if no debt no commitment and got reserve in the bank enough for 12 months, then I would take a break. But provided I have a ready skill to look for the next job, be it same industry/role or career switch, mean have to upgrade while taking a break.

Thinking of how to resolve a problem is always harder than resolving itself.

Debt free doesn't mean free of any liability.

My view is to give yourselves few more months before decide to call it quit. Probably after cny?

Of course unless you have any offer on the table.

The first US lady fighter pilot flying F15 Eagles after graduation when they can request what plane they hope to fly said this.

US air force don't allow ladies to fly combat jets because if they get shot down over enemy territory they will be captured and maybe raped.

So they told her not to request F15 combat jets because they will say no.

But she said one day someone will ask her - did you ask or just keep quiet and just regret not flying fighter jets.

So she asked and they said no. Then one day they changed the policy and told her she will be the first to fly F15s.

Now I think there are 2 lady F15 jet pilots.

If you ask a girl to dance she might say no.

If never ask then she can never say yes.

Actually, a friend did approach the boss and requested for a demotion (previous role) cos he could not cope with the stress from new mgt role.

He got his request granted. Of course there was a pay adjustment (cut) to reflect the 'demotion'. This was just last year.

Guess alot depends on the type of boss and how one present the request.

Stay safe

Cheers

Life is so unfair - women cannot fly fighter jets in case get shot down MIGHT kenna rape.

So the answer is if you fight a war then if the enemy pilot is man and gets shot down then should get a big fat ugly man to rape the enemy pilot.

This way the enemy will be scared and won't take off and fly to attack you.

This will end all wars. Rape the man soldiers until they refuse to fight.

Bro

I commend you on taking the first step towards your new life goals. It takes courage and much planning.

I'm sure you would have taken into consideration the current economic situation, the impact on your family, financial commitments etc and the potential loss in pay.

An average engineering will be earning a significant amount more than someone like a physiotherapist or rehab person - occupational therapist.

There are diplomas for these courses in the polytechnics here, or you can consider going to Australia for degree courses or even UK.

My friend's sis made the career move from a finance job to being a OT, and she enjoys it. But she took a large pay cut.

The work is hard, and you work for the doctors, much like the nurses. Even if you have a degree, there is a hierarchy. Are you good with taking orders from a house officer / MO?

You'll be much older, but you will need strength, and humility. Your age or maturity will count for something but no one will care about what gems of wisdom you gleaned from your old trade if you can't hack it in the clinic / wards / rehab centres.
There will be politics, scoldings by people who may be much younger than you.

You will need to deal with sick people, old people or kids and these kids aren't normal. Unless you sign up for sports physio only then most people aren't there because they want to, it's because they need to be. Many are not rich clients unless you graduate and exit to private practise quickly.

Sounds like hell? Hell no... these are the working realities, but the job can be rewarding, so long as you know what you're getting into. The demand is high too, the healthcare sector is still hiring, especially locals who don't mind low pay and hard work 🙂

You will get job satisfaction, friendship and many war stories. You will also get angry, feel frustrated and puny on some days. Do you feel up to the challenge?

Oh, and you might get deployed to help in the dorms if the crisis gets worse, are you cool with that?

I wish you all the best in your career choice and that you make the right decision.

why should limit to flying? The world is too big to be limited.
