Only 5G is fast enough

No need 5g lah.... Just look at their raptors... Been around a long time already.

But I really doubt they will use this for normal construction projects... Maybe only for deep underground projects like mining that might be dangerous.

All the G can remote control,  it is how fast is the latency.
Latency in a way is like the response time and reaction time.

E.g. let's say a car travelling 100km/h and is remotely controlled.
The remote driver sees the obstacle and brakes.
If let's say the latency is about 5ms for 5G,  75ms for 4G and 300ms for 3G,  and the brakes behaves the same, then
the stopping distance vs 0ms  latency,  it will be further by about 15cm for 5G,  2.08m for 4G and  8.33m for 3G.

5G can carry more information. But, you need MIMO and multiple "base" station as the range is short. PLUS when it rain heavily like in SG , the line may cut off so it needs to be virtualise to be able to fall back on 4G.

Thats why SG don't have drone except in certain places for police monitoring.

without 5G

a. the remote control cannot communicate with the machine (also must 5G-enabled) real-time ... the data transmitted back-and-forth is super duper fast

b. the video is super duper clear ie: 4K

c. no latency ... like the machine move but the image is still not send back yet ... lol

.

.

.

imagine that we are still on simi sai GPRS network do you think watching YT, FB, IG, TikTok will be successful? lol

no.. u need trajectory which is out of reach of 5G line of sight. You may be confuse with satellite with austin powers.

If you play drone outside of line of sight, confirm got lag

because the RC does not need that kind of "data loading" .... it all boils down to the use case

just like if you want to control something in outer space ... how?

IMHO.
The technology is not new, just that now they are able to "showcase" it.
Anyway, read the headings and Google the various newsfeeds.
-   Who put in the "work from home" ?
-   Even the images do not depict the miners working from their own home
-   The setup with so many display panels will be costly

Also,  I wondering why bring up Covid-19 when the drivers work in silo in the vehicle cabin ?

So this is what future might look like. We may have workers sitting inside office operate bulldozers, concrete truck mixer and etc.. And see how advance China is already.. Look at America and look at the rest of the world.. Still got long way to catch up.
