We need to attract more Malaysia-born immigrants, maybe the Indonesians also. They are culturally much closer to existing core population.

Taiwanese are good also, very similar stock to local chinese, but honestly I think they almost certainly will only treat here as working place, their long-term living env back in TW is superior.

Actually India Indian and China Chinese are also ok, but they are unlikely to sink permanent roots here.

Taiwan ah?

Well, if China one day take over Taiwna, u will see many Taiwanese flocking to SG ..... natural migration.

Why do we need so many people to crowd this tiny island? What's wrong with 3 mil population like in the old days?

So many people, not scared to island tip over?

How to support the salaries of the garment?

Prc .. heard from prc friend.

Convert means their investment property in China is impacted.. housing fxxking expensive there.

China has a kind of social insurance... that they pay into,  once convert,  gone... machum cpf.

That's preventing them changing.

Those who come here to work, even obtain SPR or even citizens, i think most of them would not sink permanent roots here la, esp if they still have family back in their home country. Unless their whole family and clan all moved to sg, then maybe they would sink their roots here. I know people who have got their citizens here, but still thinking to go back home country to retire when they are old.

When you are that rich, need to diversify.

Even if you have 100bil, give up 50 bil so that you don't have to constantly worry about when someone is coming after you is also worth it.

In China, alot of ways go ard the law lah.  Not like SG where ppl go by the book.

All developing countries like that lah. My China and India colleagues have SG passports but admit will go home to retire when kids start working here. Many legal ways, and even more illegal ways. Easy.

i don't think HDL boss only got 1 passport [sly]

It is an offence to hold more than 1 passport for Singaporean.

He has to show proof of giving up his previous passport before can swear-in
