This sounds like lackey of United Front Work

I am not sure who these folks are but I know some of them are CCP 党员 members...even some of my workplace PRC colleagues are...

Ok OT a bit...I am a member of the local Chinese clan (those bo chup type member) just show up for yearly CNY and Mid-Autumn celebrations type....and in recent years..there was an influx of PRC members..soon I heard they took over the exec comm via the yearly committee 'elections'...

Last I heard, the new exco 'overhauled' the 'election' and 'resolutions' requirements...and I heard an appeal from the local true blue members asking us to go vote against the changes...then CB happened and I lost touch of this episode since then. If it is really what you mention..the so called UFW..I think the govt better get up close and personal with such local social developments on all these clans and clubs..to prevent 'invasion' by these FTs..

FTs snatching jobs are bad enough..we don't need FTs with a political agenda to further come in and run our lives..

Some of my previous workplace PRC colleagues are also CCP members. I understand 1 of them is in the parent's committee of an Independent school here. 😟

If never say East Coast, I really would have thought it’s some place in India.

Some might think taxpayers money should be spent on locals but I actually think this is a relatively low cost and impactful way to attract young talents.

Take the cream of the crop from India to China to South East Asia and take a bet that some will assimilate and stay with us.

Happy to hear views.

How Singapore’s foreign talent scheme nurtured Chinese founders of Shopee, Free Fire

David Chen, Forrest Li and Gang Ye founded Sea Ltd in 2009. Backed by Tencent, it’s worth US$51 billion, thanks to the Free Fire game and Shopee app

They moved from mainland China to Singapore as part of a government effort to recruit foreign talent, through scholarships and access to capital

A bit late joining this thread...but personally Im a bit hesitant bringing a kid into this world...I cant even imagine the next 5 years ahead for me..what more the next 20-30 years for my next generation...honestly I do appreciate Singapore for being a safe country and more importantly, for the time being, free from ecological, geographical or climate type disasters...other than these I really dun have much to look forward to in this place anymore...seeing how it is over-run by foreigners who seem to have more say in running the country/workplace and how we have failed to put forth a clear signal to the country's leaders in the recent GE

It's interesting how our million dollar cabinet keep throwing money but birthrate just keeps decreasing.

Million dollar brains failed to do root cause analysis

Basically, having and raising a child should be just part of the process ... no need to crack brain and think too much. If you do anaylsis, it is NEVER worth it - because all the joys and benefits are intangible, but the drawbacks all can be measured in terms of $.

But nowadays a lot of younger couples think too much and over-plan, thus never get around to growing a family. Nonethelss, have observed that for those families that do have children, many now have 2, 3 kids.
