Deforestation of Brazilian Amazon hits record in April

Technically, does the same acrage of forest absorbs more CO2 than crop? Crop grow fast and maybe grow multiple seasons. Forest on the other hand has much lower density of leaves than wheat, rice, corn or sugarcane judging from the amount of carbohydrates produced.

I have solved global warming.

Global warming is caused because of too much carbon dioxide in the air.

But what is carbon dioxide? CO2 is one part carbon and 2 parts oxygen.

Because of global warming the oceans rise and we have too much water.

What is water? H2O is 2 parts hydrogen and one part oxygen.

What we need to do is take the CO2 from the air and combine with the Hydrogen from the water.

When you combine hydrogen, carbon and oxygen we get petrol.

So we no need to dig oil out of the ground we got more than enough CO2 in the air and H2O in the ocean.

The more water and CO2 we use the more petrol we can make.

Problem solved. This is called the circular economy. Recycle and reuse.

Keppel working on project to explore floating city in Singapore

A floating city in Singapore may well become a reality, with Keppel Corp exploring such nearshore urban developments.

Keppel chief executive officer and executive director Loh Chin Hua disclosed this at the World Cities Summit on Tuesday (June 22), during a panel discussion on how cities can take the lead in responding to climate, social and technological change. Speaking about how the private sector can work with governments to address issues like climate change, Mr Loh said: "We have the technology and capabilities to build floating cities, which can address both land scarcity as well as the threat of rising sea levels in coastal areas. We are currently exploring how such nearshore developments can be built in Singapore."

Eating plant-based diet can reduce the environmental impact. The amount of land required for live stock causes deforestation. The rearing of livestock pollutes fresh water and air. The amount of energy required to feed the livestock to produce that little meat is not sustainable.

The beef and dairy cattle industry is one of the main contributors to global greenhouse gases. Methane(CH4) makes up about half of the total greenhouse gases this sector emits. Cows generate methane in two main ways: through their digestion and through their waste. Methane is one of the most egregious of greenhouse gases, roughly 25 times more potent at trapping heat than carbon dioxide.

I also want to support by buying tv washing machines that manufacturers dare to put their money behind their brand by offering a 10 year guarantee

I asked Sony and Panasonic. Do you sell extended warranty beyond your 3 year warranty? Sorry don’t have

This could be part of East Coast Plan during GE2020. i.e. Turning our East Coast beach into a river.  😁

Decades-old plan to reclaim island for housing could be updated to tackle rising sea levels

A plan more than three decades ago envisioning a reclaimed island along the length of East Coast for beachfront housing and leisure may morph into one that also takes on the task of protecting Singapore from rising sea levels. Under the plan, the "Long Island" would stretch from Marina East to Changi.

A book documenting Singapore's 1991 Concept Plan said of the Long Island: "It will become not only a leisure centre by the sea but also a choice location for some housing development."

The country's concept plans, meant to guide development for the next 50 years, are reviewed once a decade. A review is currently ongoing, with plans slated for exhibition in the middle of this year. In an interview with The Straits Times on Feb 21, the Urban Redevelopment Authority's chief planner Hwang Yu-Ning pointed to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's 2019 National Day Rally speech when asked what had become of the Long Island plan.

"That's one version of Long Island 2.0," she said.

In 2019, PM Lee had said Singapore would need to spend about $100 billion or more over a century to protect itself from rising sea levels. He cited possible ways to protect East Coast, including empoldering - a land reclamation technique - or reclaiming a series of offshore islands there. Through two artist's impressions, PM Lee, noting that engineering drawings had yet to be done, said the islands could be used for housing or other purposes, and the spaces between them used as reservoirs by building barrages to link the islands.

I have solved the global warming problem.

We have too much CO2

And we use too much steel and aluminium

Use the  CO2 to make carbon fibre

and replace steel and aluminium with carbon fibre.

:D

Simply genius.
