If these foreign students are still required to pay fees higher than those of local students,  then I wonder why is there still $238m being spent on these foreign students? What is it spend on?

Study loan I know need to pay. Bond I am not so sure. Someone can enlighten me. Also serving of bond they will be pay a salary package right?

My guess the 238m covered  the fee to institutions/landlord/expendiures/ etc

Good thing about this debate.. It can also clarify some issues that surfaced out in the debate.. Like misconception of over 100k unemployed pmets is actually a lot way less.

Actually I read somewhere the number could be 100k unemployed PMET.  How could it be?  Two possibilities.

1)  30000 unemployed PMET plus 70000 driving Grab or under employed - but the point is they are PMET but not employed as PMET but also not under the category of "unemployed".

2)  The stats were updated to june 2019?  Cos I remember VB said the 2020 stats will be available early next year.  Unless I misheard.   Covid-19 happened this year.  So it is possible that the number jumped from 30000 to 100000 this year because of covid-19 but of cos, then Chee would have to clarify where he got the numbers since it's not in official govt stats.

Just received these 2 booklets from pap, which will head straight to the bin shortly (too rough for my backside).

I wonder how pap get their campaign funding, which they need to print these rubbish booklets, flags, banners, online ads, posters, etc...

I don't recall them asking for political donations or selling pap merchandise. Despite their high package, I don't think they will run the election using their own money. That begs the question where their funding is from (I have not clicked into their website, for obvious reasons).

Look at how law minister keep hammering opposition party members at slightest mistake.. This one is really shake head.. Time has changed.. If keep hammering opposition party member at slightest mistake .. One fine day if a lot of people said.. Enough is enough how? What's more look at just 2 weeks back the Ivan lim, and most recently ling ling.. Law minister still don't get it? It already start showing at pap backyard (so take a deep look at settle that issue after GE) .. Okay its sort of clear that ling ling is more towards choice of wrong wording. But many opposition party member also slip up and use choice of wrong wording and look what happened to them? Kanna by law minister. If suppression is the way to go, it can only suppress till a certain point and then many people who cannot take it and start break up one by one and many start to vote opposition party because of that. Then gg for pap.

you keep saying law minister keep hammering at the slightest mistake so there must be many incidents.

Can I have one example so I see what you are referring to?

Read the Facebook comments on West Coast psp Facebook page.. A lot of angry people commenting so unfair.. And look not only me think that it does not help pap at all hor.. Like this comment I screenshot. It only worsen it and perhaps few more people mightbe undecided whether to vote pap or opposition party.. Then see this west coast psp Facebook page and decide forget it vote opposition party, cannot let this bullying keep going on.

This too.. Now it effectively open a can of worms..

My area open space carpark also has posters both incumbent and oppo, all tied to same lamp-posts and bearing official stamp. Still there this morning.

Okay the latest pritum Singh is one example..

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/pritam-singh-wp-pap-tan-wu-meng-shanmugam-alfian-saat-12856550

This one is pritum Singh mistake.. Then remember after that he said no one is perfect, then what did law minister said to him?

Then the latest psp and rp at née soon grc incident.. Law minister saying psp is half hearted? Like psp and rp already replied back.. Law minister should focus more on national issues instead of keep barking at them.

Then Ivan lim is a good example.. So go and grill Ivan lim la.. Forget he cannot grill Ivan lim due to same party. So this shows what? Want to grill other people please look at own backyard 1st.. No one is perfect.

I feel the opposite.. In fact I feel Heng chee how is a little bit too cocky.. Josephine Teo has her shortfall but is not as cocky as Heng chee how..

Josephine Teo actually not too bad.. Remember after she took over man power ministry from tan Chuan jin, all the illigal vice activities start get caught one by one. When Tan Chuan jin was then the man power minister.. Illigal vice activities had been blooming. So that's a sharp contrast..

She has a couple of wacky ideas like 'people only need a small space' - maybe it comes from her experience of dealing with these illegal shops [laugh]

Now she contesting in jln besar, all the spa owners there must be worried.

Can imagine.. Like many people wrote to mp that there seems to have vice activities there.. When she received these feedback..  It will be instant forward to spf to take action and police will be very busy keep activating to go raid jalan Besar especially.. Haha

Maybe that’s why she’s unpopular and many guys don’t like her. 😆

1. dont need to ask also got people contribute and donate.  Not illegal for them to accept donations.

2. all their MPs and Ministers have to contribute from the pay or allowance they receive.  The 16k MP allowance, part of it goes to the party.  Same for WP as well.

That's K Shanmugam's thing.  He wasnt one of the top two litigators in Singapore during his practice days for nothing.  I dont expect him to change, i dont want him to change. You need K Shanmugam there as law and interior minister to do a K Shanmugam.  Imagine a Jamus Lim seeing the good in everyone as law minister.  Peng san i tell u.

Just as I was saying law minister keep hammering opposition party member.. Look at shengwu li comment on what law minister said in parliament in August 2016. So law minister also got slightest mistake in his speech in parliament that day hor.. So how? He go and hammer ownself for the slightest mistake he had said in August 2016 in parliament?

I dont think he does.  It's just that he know what to say at different times.  During an interview, see the good in everyone.  In court, if he says that then really peng San....
