And whether he was ever a member of the CCP, like, it is some club where you can take up membership [laugh]

Anyway this whole Senate wayang is getting old... bet those Tech CEO sure feel it's a waste of time playing along by now. What total snowflakes the US society has become now, even someone's kid OD'ing on drugs purchased through snapchat is blamed on social media! Being a foreign citizen, he can't apply for CCP membership.

On the other hand, he could be invited to be a member while not being open about it.

At his level, he could be invited to be PR in PRC

Main thing is that no new laws or regulations to further rein in social media so far. Just usual wayang wayang for their electorates.

It is a charade, China bashing scores political points, noone wants to know the truths.

It seems that minorities have different "protection" in USA. African-american, latino and native american - black and brown - are "untouchable" when it comes to racist statements made against them or any stereotyping that links back to their skin colour or ethnicity.

But somehow asians, especially east asians, seems not to have the same "protection". Maybe because being a model minority or a successful minority makes them seen as ineligible for any sort of "handicap" from white society.

Here you have a white redneck hurling all kinds of wild allegations, obviously insinuating that Chew's ethnicity makes him a suspect, never mind his actual nationality...... and this is deemed acceptable? Trying this kind of trick on black or brown ethnicity will get the senator "cancelled" in the press and having to apologize.

I think given trend that many tech companies are headed by ethnic south asians, maybe tik tok should source for the next CEO from that region - there is no shortage of talent there and it'll save tik tok a lot of trouble! [laugh] Waiting to see if any senator will be ridiculous enough to allege that an Indian CEO is applying for PRC citizenship or is a secret member of CCP.
