I think he is checking whether header was modded or not?

He was measuring something with a probe that was inserted for a few mins that puzzled me.

I should have inquired from the ah bang who drove my car through the different inspection stations.

Was told that the recent long queue was due to the back log  from covid-19 measures put in place. Only commercial vehicles were allowed to be tested then.

I went to Changi North VICOM for inspection in June during wkday.  In and out in 15 mins.

Wasted 2 mins in the commercial vehicle q.  Signage is very bad.

Probably taking measurements of oil/fuel vapor present for diesel engines. These are considered as pollutants as well.

The fuel system for diesel engines are highly pressurised. So once the seals are worn fuel vapors will be significantly released.

After reading through the comments here, I don't totally agree with all. I can understand why people want to install illegal mods because I am guilty too 😂

1. Driving a mass market model. It's not easy to find your car in the carpark when you drive something like (CHR, Vezel/HRV, Jazz/Fit, Mz3 etc). So we install christmas lights, add ugly mods or wrap it in some dis-tasteful color in a bid to look different from others.

2. Because we know our car cannot go fast, we install loud, illegal exhausts in a bit to sound fast look fast but not fast (I am not into this shit though)

3. Adding illegal mods to decorate your car is a way to de-stress, like some ppl turn to gambling/vice/shopping etc.

4. Car already not cheap to buy in Singapore. Getting so stressed over whether can pass inspection is additional burden. So don't scared, whack only.

Ok, enough of my nonsense excuses 😶

Just cleared Vicom Kaki Bukit yesterday, quite lenient. Got a pass with an intermittently working headlight due to wear and tear of the wiring connector (which of course chose not to function at the time of inspection😂).

Explained to the guy (a nice young abang) that I've alr ordered the part but due to my car being a relatively less common older gen car, it's not able to arrive soon, and the inspection is due by early October so i just deicded to go for inspection soon, he told me just make sure it's an original not zhng headlight can alr, and he passed me.

Spoiler

As for the other stuff, LED peripheral lighting etc, all cleared without issue.

Quarreled with one before. Kept insisting my exhaust was not stock. Told him to stand one side and let me talk to his supervisor cause he refused to acknowledge he does not have proof mine was not stock.
in the enD the supervisor which was local or Malaysian let me thru.i challenged the to fail me cause I will bring up to LTA for wasting my time.   My exhaust is 100% stock. Was an old car and the inspectors didn’t know better. In any case I totally avoid vicom now. And try to avoid any pinoy ones.

Same here. Went to the Sin Ming one for my first car in 2000. Had a 6 year-old Wagon R. The catalytic converter is directly connected next to the outlet of header just below the engine bay and not along the exhaust system underside the car for normal cars.

That guy asked me 'Where is you cat?' and even asked me to go down to the lower platform with him and ask me point to him. Told him car was 100% stock, but he gave me the doubt and told me he will pass me. Felt humiliated like I am guilty and he passed me based on pity like that. Damn.
