@Mkl22 this is where Toyota needs to step in and help out its smaller Japanese brother with its superior hybrid system. The Corolla Cross is a great example of a Toyota’s engineering of hybrids that’s been improving since the first Prius came out.
Subaru says it will come out with a plug in hybrid for its vehicles. Toyota can help match Subaru’s boxer engine (operating in the Atkinson cycle) with Toyota’s planetary gearbox, electric motor with decent software controls. Subaru can improve overall performance at the same time reduce emissions and improve FC. It’s a win-win situation by partnering with Toyota.
If Subaru decides to go it alone, then you’re right in having a negative view in Subaru’s future. Will see what develops as no car manufacturer can stand still on the treadmill of competition.

Subaru Forester are selling very well in the USA and Canada market. With the 2.5L engine.

Wonder how Subaru is doing in the largest car market in the world - China? In 2023, 30.09 million vehicles were sold in China (https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Automobiles/China-s-2023-auto-sales-grow-12-on-overseas-demand-for-EVs#:~:text=SHANGHAI -- China's vehicle sales,3% growth target set earlier.) an increase of 12% from 2022.

New Energy Vehicles (NEV) which consists of both Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) as well as plug in hybrid vehicles sales increased by 38% to 9.49 million units for a 31% market share. Plug in hybrid electric vehicles grew by an impressive 85% from 2022 to 2.8 million units.

According to this article : https://pandaily.com/subarus-china-division-denies-dissolution-rumor/#:~:text=Since it officially entered the,% year-on-year.  Subaru sales in China has been on a downward trend since 2010 when it sold around 57k vehicles. In 2021, Subaru sold less than 20k vehicles - that's down 63% from it's peak. I don't have any numbers for Subaru vehicle sales in 2023, but it's probably worse than in 2021.

Subaru is part of the legacy auto makers group who's unable to compete in the toughest car market in the world - China. Toyota is a part owner of Subaru and part of the legacy auto makers group. Subaru's bread and butter market is US of A. China auto inc. is coming for them - it's just a matter of time.

Subaru isn't selling well in Singapore either. See numbers below from LTA.

Subaru's market share of new car registrations peaked in 2018 at just under 4%. It's been downhill since then.

For 2022 and 2023, Subaru's share of new car registrations are under 0.5%. This is similar market share number as back in 2012. A long road ahead for Subaru and Tan Chong International Limited.

No plug-in hybrid model from Subaru isn't helping them. Toyota has the RAV 4 Prime plug-in hybrid. Where's the equivalent one from Subaru?

A Corolla Cross plug-in hybrid would be in high demand. The benefits of going to electric with the back up petrol engine. Wish Toyota would consider this.

Had just bought a 1.8L Hybrid Cross. managing 26.4/L at the moment.

You bought from PI 1.8 Hybrid? Did you buy the top spec HYBRID Z (2WD)?

current late 2023 JDM spec which is 1.8 Hybrid (same as new BM 1.8L low spec Prius) of course that use the same older engine same as yours, not the current BM 2.0L Hybrid with better dynamic force engine which Japan itself don’t sell.

Oh the G grade, if you want Z grade PI can indent actually but must wait, can add optional item too based on their JDM Toyota Cororlla Cross official add-on too but need extra time and more expensive.

Interesting review from a mechanic on the 2024 Corolla Cross hybrid:

To be honest the PI cost of the RAV4 hybrid is much better than the Corolla Cross hybrid from AD (Borneo Motors). Something's not right here.

IMHO.
AD Corolla Cross Hybrid is 5th Gen and e-CVT.
The latest RAV4 Hybrid from AD should be e-CVT.

Would like to compare PI specs against Borneo Motors specs on the Corolla Cross hybrid. Would you have them?

The RAV4 hybrid is step up from the Corolla Cross hybrid. For around the same price, I'd rather get the RAV4 hybrid from a PI than Corolla Cross hybrid from Borneo Motors.

I also want to know what is the difference between the PI Rav4 and AD Corolla Cross Hybrid.
Also,  between PI and AD Corolla Cross Hybrid.
From the pics, seems PI version don't have DRCC feature.
