Three-quarters of all plastic ever produced has already been discarded. And the world will see plastic production—and plastic pollution—more than double from its current level by 2039.

However, any effort to strand the assets of plastic producers faces one big obstacle: People haven’t demonstrated a real ability to reduce their demand for plastic, and new regulations haven’t changed that.

BYO containers to takeaway is also encouraged this period but theres also many claims out there saying that would indirectly cause more contact between stall owners n customers

i do see more people bringing their own recycled bag to ntuc, ss but then again many of them take the plastic bag to hold the items and then double bag with the recycled bag. so that defeats the purpose. what to do? i find charging 5 cent or 10 cent for a bag works, speaking for myself. its hard to change mentality lo. an extra charge is a quicker way to send the message across esp for small items bo hua pay 10 cents

OK I try and go toilet less often and do my bit to produce less solid waste.

If the plastic bags are all recycled to use as garbage bag, I don't see anything wrong or wastage.

 

I don't suppose we can use paper bags to throw rubbish from the sink?

Most of the plastic wears comes or produce from MY factories. Don't believe, ask Toyogo where their factory is ? 

China should be top of the list as everywhere you goes, they use plastic cups, bowls, chopsticks, .... etc.

NTUC plastic bags really too many. But yes can be used for garbage.

I bring my ikea bag for weekly grocery run. But i used to go NTUC twice weekly. Now cos of covid, i go weekly. So basically my groceries cant fit inside one ikea bag. I use my kids old stroller as a "trolley" so it can only fit one ikea bag. And the other NTUC bags are needed to hold the more fragile items or to hang off the hooks.

Last time if i bring my ikea bag both times, i would probably need only 1-2 bags. Now i still end up with 5-6.

Not sure if the report is accurate.

You go to countries like Japan or Taiwan or China.

All their hawker dispense all food in disposables, ours nowadays most have gone back to washable utensils.

I am just curious what have we consumed that contributed to the large glass/metal waste? I cannot really think what what I do everyday that will lead to this wastage. And not forgetting the Other category - what is it?

I've watched a documentary from BBC and one of the country contributing the most plastic waste into the ocean is from our neighbour.

Their rivers machiam is covered in plastic waste.

In sg, I still hope that supermarts will stop issuing plastics bags for free.

The problem is the water we flush down the toilet is too clean. 

When can't we use rain water. 

Every day how many times we flush the toilet and each flush how many litres. 

Just count the cost lah times how many million people.
