@Carbon82  Did you go for a test drive? If you did, what are your thoughts?

meanwhile, I took a few photos a week before too. There’s a spare tyre under the rear. I don’t really like the 2022 wheels though…

So I went for test drive Santa Fe S/R hybrid during the weekend.

My thoughts on Santa Fe

1. Not sure if I was affected by Carbon82 comment, somehow I felt the interior not as luxurious as the photos, maybe it's the leather, or the fact that there were some scratches behind the front seat

2. Car is quite big, like driving a mini van, but it's a 3 row SUV so I guess that's to be expected

3. Aside from these 2, I don't have any complaints, the car is just great: pick up is fantastic for the size, ventilated seat is the greatest invention since aircon, the features are quite useful

Now comparing GLA 180, priced at 178999 quite close to Santa Fe, since I went to C&C after that:

1. Pick up rate is much worse than Santa Fe, somewhat expected due to smaller engine and lower power, but then it also has smaller body, I thought it would make up for it but no

2. Interior wise it feels a bit more luxurious probably because of the bigger screens

3. No blind spot detection

4. No aircon vent at the back, duh

5. Expected delivery is Mar-Apr 2022 (6mths) due to shortage of chips, so nope

@Gliazzurra Thanks for sharing.
I was comparing the Santa Fe with Sorento, Peugeot 5008, Mazda CX8 and Merc GLB. All 7-seater SUVs with more or less the same price point.
After weighing the hits and misses, I shortlisted my final 2 - Santa Fe and Sorento. Besides the safety features, the deciding factor is the hybrid system. The amount of hp it has is quite impressive.

By the way, Komoco is launching this weekend or next. Selling price is $180999. They are offering a $1k discount. Those who booked earlier will get a $2k discount plus other perks like 5 years free servicing and 1 year free road tax.

A few of us have gotten our cars already. Personally, I like the 6-speed AT coupled with the electric motor. The switch between the ICE and electric motor is seamless. I don’t feel any jerkiness from the change in gears. I can feel the ICE kicking in when the car is idle though. The electric motor will always kick in first unless you set it to Sports mode.

Over the past 2 days, I could reach 18.6km/L on 30% city, 70% highway (over 16km) and 12.2km/L on 100% city. As it is still breaking in, I didn’t rev the engine and was on 100% Eco mode with only 1 driver and aircon on driver’s side only.

Here are some photos of my ride. This is Glacier White with Cognac Brown interior.

@Mystidae I see. I did make a booking for lagoon blue so won't come so early. Nice white. I avoiding white and black as my current is a black headache to wash after rain pour.

Just wanted to see how's everyone thoughts cos I want a le to find any and new to Hyundai.

I would have gone for Sorento for looks exterior and interior but diesel put me off. Their hybrid has no eta and using the same engine and power train as Sante Fe Hybrid, worth to explore. But no ETA do neh.

Yes, I was deciding between the Santa Fe and Sorento ultimately. Like you, I prefer Sorento’s exterior too but the Santa Fe grows on you. Like not love at first sight but a good wife material type! 😂

After driving 4 different makes, I thought of returning to a Korean brand as they have advanced so much (My first car was a Kia Sportage). That Sportage had served me very well with no issues and was really dependable, unlike that dreaded VW Touran Sports…

Hello All - I tried requesting to join the Hyundai Santa Fe Singapore group but have not yet been accepted. I suspect the group is inactive? I've since created another one: https://www.facebook.com/groups/323968759621163

Please join if you're interested. Hoping to create a community to share and chat and hopefully arrange for meetups soon.

I would choose sorento because its a diesel. Maybe  noisier but no doubt its robust and no petrol engone could match its longevity and reliability.

I too have my reservation in maintaining a ICE and a electric motor. Its like double whammy to take care of two separate units.
