Hyundai/Kia are going thru their golden era like the Japs in 80s/90s.

Really splashing out the money with no hesitation.

NEW platform for a facelift, a lot of features for low price.... wonder how they make their margins.

It is extremely expensive to design/test and setup manufacturing for any single new part... wow

Actually not really leh... if the new platform is ready, why not just launch... use the facelift model as a test bed... and refine it for the new model in 2022... I see it as cost-effective in fact... the new platform wasn't designed for this 2021 model year alone... it's the platform for the next 2-3 model years actually... should last 10 years as is usually the case...

It is official, and will be available in Korea before end of the year, together with the launch of the facelift Santa Fe.

But not sure it will be made available outside Korea yet.

So cool... we just don't get all these goodies... I think US will probably get it too... depends on the response to the N-Line Sonata I think... hopefully they get good sales and the N-Line can continue...

Anyone has any idea if this is coming onto our shore? Would be interesting if Komoco bring in hybrid model..

Unknown quantity... the current Santa Fe hardly sold in any appreciable numbers... this new one is going to be priced even higher plus the hybrid system will just push up the price past $200,000 I think...

It seems to me that Komoco doesn't even bother to try selling Santa Fe: no turbo petrol 2.0T model, very low number of diesel model that it was on sale for like a few months only.. they could have gone toe to toe with Kia Sorento, slightly more expensive but better interior quality, but chose to compete in the cheaper smaller segment instead..

I think KMC and C&C both trying very hard to position Korean cars as on par, if not better than the Japs/ Conti but value for money. Unfortunately, the general population in SG are brand conscious and is still stuck with the mentality that Korean cars is still not there yet. Spoken to C&C and the management finds it difficult to sell the cars at full specs due to the price point. The general market is not receptive to pay for Korean cars. Sigh.....

I feel that worldwide Hyundai is trying to position themselves at the higher end of the mass market segment, i.e. to complete with VW, Mazda, Toyota.. But here in SG, KMC seems to be more interested to compete on price with the Mitsubishis Skodas Seats of the world..

And I think that this will be a problem if they don't try to improve public perception as they will get their lunch eaten by up and coming Chinese brands like MG..

Many Singaporeans still look on Continental brands as more prestigious - even Skoda or Seat... they have the VW DNA regardless... I think the challenge is to get these prospective buyers to even get into a test drive car to feel the difference... and this is where I think not having a full spec model with special test drive sessions to fully explore the car and it's features is something Komoco & C&C haven't tried hard enough...

But I think Hyundai really need to improve their customer service or SE attitude.  Maybe Hyundai sales too good recently

I went car hunting  yesterday on Mazda CX-8, Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe.........7 seater SUV

Received professional and friendly service at Kia and Mazda showroom.

CX-8 7 seater quite nice and seating position is good. 153K include 5 years free servicing and warranty. Both Interior and exterior is nice and good quality.

Very nice to drive too..........

Went over to Hyundai showroom and to see the Hyundai Santa Fe for a comparison.

Served by a 50 yrs old Uncle Sale person........his attitude really quite bad. Ask him about Santa Fe............

He raised his voice a little bit and reply: " No Santa Fe on display, you cannot see ah??? New model only come out next year, you don't know ah?

I think there is no need to be so rude although I am just looking at a cheapo car like Hyundai Santa Fe.

My friend who was with me actually wanted to buy and test drive the new Hyundai Avante......but we walked out of the showroom immediately

It's always the sales person that kills the deal... Actually, not happy with him can ask for another SE if you are serious in buying...

Wow that's terrible.. Been there a couple of times while servicing car, so far the sales staff are reasonably friendly when I enquired about upcoming models.. But then it was during weekdays so maybe they are just sitting idle..

Santa Fe is not a cheapo car pls, it's the most expensive Korean car in town, when it's actually available.. 😁

agreed. but it may change. they now need to focus on marketing their Avante. based on the reception of the latest Avante, times maybe changing though.

The new Santa Fe looks absolutely fantastic and very curious to see if KMC will bring it to SG and what specs.
