The previous X1 sDrive18i was also a Cat B car, while this sDrive16i is a Cat A car.

The price has to go up for this latest X1 as std equipment has improved (ADAS etc), and its also more well rounded package overall. Although you can argue its basically the old engine in a all-new bodyshell. 

People see the car, test drove and feel good, also come out say the power is adequate. I mean 0-100km/h in 10 secs is slow, but how many here really need to lut the car hard in day to day driving? 😆

10 sec century sprint is quite honestly, sufficient in SG context. Korean and Jap B&B models are doing around that range as well and nobody complains they're underpowered.

But for a keen driver, being able to easily and swiftly overtake, especially at highway speeds, is an important luxury.

My oversized and puny engine does 0 to 100 in sub 9sec.

Yet when I use only 30% of full throttle, 95% of the time all cars are few hundred meters behind me after a while. 

I am not fast or rather many are tardy.

Yes, if they say they are someone who frequents up north, then I would say the 1.5 inline 3 will be anaemic along the NSH. Go above 150km/h and it will really start to show its flaws.  In Singapore, its perfectly well suited.

Rather than 0-100km/h, agility to overtake is more important.

Especially we have a lot of CB drivers that close up once signal.

Of course, driving sedately following the flow, any car is enough.

Its the low end torque which you are talking about, for such scenarios. The ability to pull and pick up speed in any gear in a hurry. 

For such scenario actually EV is the best, instantaneous torque delivery without waiting for simi DCT/8-speed/9-speed gearbox to drop gear or simi turbocharger to spool and respond 😆

Always encounter it so think behavior may be taught in school,  when see someone signal, accelerate, don’t let him get in 😂

What would be the best low torque ICE car if one is take EV out of the equation? Say with ard 250k budget in today's market... 🙄🤔

Speaking from a Conti pov with a puny TC engine, cruising even at near 200 is relaxed.

The issue is from accelerating from 100 to 160 onwards, the engine takes a while to catch up and would be out of breath after 4.5k rpm.

Audi Q3 2.0, 320 NM @ 1500rpm

Audi A3 1.5, 250 NM @ 1500 rpm

Volvo xc40, 300 NM @ 1380 rpm

Not sure what you mean by best. But the above are just a few that came to my mind for cars in the 250k range with high torque at low rpm.

For accelerating 100-160, that is when cars with higher bhp shines. It can easily beat out cars with higher higher max torque, but much lower bhp.

Q3 looks yummy👍👍

A3 too cramp (for me).

Volvo no resale value (joke - some people say it means "no wife", maybe that is why less audience for resale)
