But wait a few months, price may drop some more. However I heard that the IS350 F-Sport is a limited run thing. Most will be IS300 and IS300h. ↡ Advertisement
Knighthunter 4th Gear December 3, 2020 Share December 3, 2020 I can’t stand the dash, it’s from aging NX with twin analog dial......if retro should go back to first gen IS, one of best analog dials in late 1990s

For 90K upfront price more, the M340i had better be significantly faster. Not sure about price, but M340i should be measurably faster than say ISF or GSF. There’s probably little difference in costs, and as you pointed out road tax is lower in the 340i and real world fuel use could be similar. One is much easier to drive even in stop start traffic due to abundance of Low end torque. Give it a try!
Kooman01 Clutched December 8, 2020 Share December 8, 2020 Test drove the new IS300 last week, not too impressed. The good: Exterior looks good Back seats leg room not too bad. Not so good: Surprisingly cabin noise quite high (from the tyres) at 70km/h and above. Turbo lag quite significant. Infotainment quite outdated, not much change from old model. Overall, not my cup of tea.

Both GSF and M340i tested on the unrestricted German Autobahn. Lexus GSF 477 hp, 0-250 km/h 23.35 secs, BMW M340i xDrive 374 hp 0-250 km/h 29.68 secs For perspective, the 2007-2011 GS450h 345hp does 0-250 km/h in 27 secs. The M340i for being the latest BMW with brand new chassis and powerplant still lags behind a 10 year old Lexus hybrid in performance.

You piqued my interest but a few quick scans on YouTube suggests this is not conclusive. But as I won’t be able to fully verify any such tests I won’t list any of the links. However, as a former Lexus enthusiast I certainly can understand how you feel. Nevertheless, thank you for sharing Lexus news as they come up, good to have fans rooting for Lexus. And I am sure you will enjoy your GS450h. For 3 times I nearly bought one!

And why didn't use the 2.0l turbo engine with the hybrid system? Spent all the years just tweaking road holding, steering feel and ride quality. The new IS coulda been a solid contender against the bmw 330e. Actually road holding could be a function of wider wheels and tires....not an expensive upgrade for Lexus to manage. I found during my test drive the feel is no better than before, but it is a quicker steering rack with more assistance so it could give some the impression that there is more feel and that was welcome. The ride quality was (for me) ruined by the very high road noise (the UX was quieter in that respect and that’s not saying much). Having driven the BMW G20 3 series on the autobahn I was really impressed with the noise suppression. It had a 2.0 diesel with performance, handling, refinement and a modern interior. I guess they are trying to move those wishing more performance to Toyota...the RAV4 prime gets good reviews, I noticed.
