Ah yes, it's drivertrain remains a hybrid and retained the typical hybrid styling features like the Kammback, but I believe the first gen model was a 2-seater. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I remember seeing a silver first gen displayed at the entrance of Kah Motors showroom at Alexandra some months ago. Not sure if it's still there. 😁

Yes the first gen is a 2 seater with a very shallow boot.

The one at Leng Kee Kah Motor bear the registration no. EG6H iirc and it was the first Insight registered in Singapore in year 2000.

Honda Civic itself started life as a very modest and different vehicle too, i recall. It was a small hatchback right?

Actually 1st gen Civic have a total of 5 variants, but only the 3 and 5 door hatchback were sold here.

Then where does the Accord go?

I think they can make an Amaze L version, where L represents long wheelbase. Just resculpture the front to make it less awkward and change trims here and there and we will see a new "City".

Accord will always be their flagship sedan (after the now gone Legend). And in the past few generation, it has been position as a large size sedan (4.8 - 4.9m+ in length), so nothing has changed.

Amaze is a totally different class from City (basically a mini class Brio with a tiny boot snap on it back, just like the Suzuki Dzire - which is a Swift + boot), and even a LWB version will not bring it to anything close to 4.2 - 4.3m.

When I see this Rapid, it brings back my memory of its sibling, the Favorit (one of my ex colleagues bought one, he told me "cannot run") of the same era. For this Rapid, IIRC, the configuring of the front bonnet is unique. It opens side way!

As for naming, I would prefer the model name to follow through, from gen to gen.

Corolla has been a very successful model. I don't understand why they need to twist the name from COROLLA to COROLLA ALTIS!   and COROLLA AXIO etc.

Golf is still Golf with the  difference in MKs . Mini still retains the same.

For Hyundai, are they alternating between Elantra and Avante?  I don't prefer to this.

The Favorite drive like sh*t and maintenance cost would probably end up more than what the car cost. An ex-colleague of mine owned one for 3 years and I get to drive it a few time, and whatever I have mentioned are for real!

One of the neighbour at my old place drove the 2nd gen Civic sedan (VRN E*3050) till mid 2000s and replace it with the FD Civic.

@Toeknee_33 what is your take on the 2 generation of Lancia Thema? I personally think it fit the title of this thread well, same name different class, especially the original Thema 8.32, which I have just wrote about it in the other thread.

The Insight can be seen outside the showroom on Google Maps street view. Incidentally, there is also a silver second gen parked ahead of it!

Based on my limited knowledge, I know the Thema was an original Lancia, despite being born out of a Saalfarofiat alliance (the doors are shared and interchangeable between the Saab 9000, Alfa 164, Fiat Croma and Thema I think). The current iteration is a badge engineered Chrysler 300 that is nothing Italian other than the Lancia badge. So I agree that this fits into this thread. 😁

But being 3.99m, it wouldnt be difficult for it to be lengthened at the front and the back.

But the technicalities of it may warrant a new platform instead.

The Dzire, I would have to say, is the best designed micro sedans, much better than the Xcent and the Amaze, imho.

But practicality is much less than of the Swift Hatch.

Hahaha. The ppl working on Justy must be not very well-paid. They can't even bother to give it a different name. They should learn from Seat. name the car all around spain. like that no need to think so much.

Please bring back Nissan Presea, the exact R10 model but with strengthened surface to protect against dings, dents and melted aircon vane.

Timeless classic, but highly-affordable at the same time!

YES!! R10 Presea and with manual transmission! In one of the company I have worked with, they have several company car, such as Corona 1.6A, Corona 2.0A, Mazda 323, and the R10 Presea 1.6M. The R10 was my default choice if I have to make business related trip in Singapore and Malaysia, best handling among the rest (I know some might not agree, but that is my personal assessment / preference) although the clutch is super stiff.

But the plastic dash can't last long under the hot sun, surface become sticky and even bubbling were noted after just 3 years, which never occurred in the Toyota and Mazda.
