Many malaysian will continue to be PR, esp if they married to a sporean here. At least they can go back to malaysia in future.

There are many convert from pr to Singaporeans la. There are also many that try to convert from pr to Singaporeans but get rejected.

Those who covert PR to sporeans is they want to buy BTO/EC lo. Enjoy the grants and low price of BTO flats and enjoy the atas of an EC. Last time i have one malaysian PR colleague, convert to sporean because he wants to buy EC but wife still remains as PR.

Annual $25k already included allowances and bonus? So average per month is only about $2100? Consider low in this current standard of living le.

Yup.  But that was 2001.  Assume that there has been a S$500 per month increase for new nurses.  So instead of $1500, its $2000.  That would be another $7500 (500 x 15).  Which would be monthly about $600+?  So one can argue the new nurses starting monthly is $2600 plus monthly if you look at it this way.  So does it mislead?  Up to you to think.  Cos it's accurate but when you look at salaries in job adverts, the monthly salary is the monthly salary and not the yearly salary plus expected bonuses and allowances etc/ 12.

DPM hsk explained the rational on free trade agreement and also explained that ceca is not the main cause of large Indian population working in Changi Business park. He also explained that they did not give any rights for other countries to be able to freely convert to Singapore citizenship, pr and also mom have control on WP, EP. Watch from 21.50mins to 25.20mins for dpm Heng full explanation.

If that's the case, then how these financial institutions able to skirt around the system and bring in massive Indians national to Changi Business hub and inevitably affect job placements for locals? In anyway, it seems like the majority of the concern is concentrated to Indians nationals in Changi Business park. There is not so much of saying ang moh concentration, Japanese concentration and etc.. So how these Indians national managed to go around the system? They really darn intelligent sia.. As in intelligent till able to go around the system that no other nationalities in the world managed to do that in Singapore.

Last but not least, with dpm Heng say like that, mom have to answer lao.. Coz its not ceca problem based on what dpm Heng said.. He said its mom control on WP and EP. Ta ra.. So now ball goes to mom. Mom now have difficult task to answer if someone ask mom that ceca questions on why approved so many EP from Indians national and a lot congregate and work in Changi Business park.

So there is a control for EP then?  What is the ratio or number allocated? I thought the quota system and foreign worker levy is only applicable to the S Pass and Work Permit (WP).

SINGAPORE - Bilateral agreements that Singapore signed with other countries have not jeopardised employment opportunities for Singaporeans, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said on Sunday (Aug 23).

In fact, they have opened doors to better jobs.

Responding to criticisms about how free trade agreements or comprehensive economic cooperation agreements had caused Singapore to "sign away important protection for Singaporean (jobs)", Mr Heng said that such statements were totally false.

Correct, i know a few malaysian PR who convert to sporean and yet they still treat themselves as malaysian and always go back to malaysia if they have time. They convert to sporean just enjoy the benefits here and low cost of housing. Other than that they are still malaysian than sporean. Lol.

In Singapore ah? Hehe

In his hometown ipoh.

In Singapore he merely bunk in a hdb rental room. Didn't touch his cpf. Merely monthly remit his pay back to his sister for the mortgages.

What he gave up is family ties in Ipoh.

Are we complaining too much? I am really don't know. I am one of the many complainant but give and take are we really willing to make such sacrifices like my colleague?

No answer. 🤔
