Yes from my experience. Cut cost and renew at the same time.

It is mostly those earning 5 digits a month (middle management and some senior management) that are asked to leave.  Those doing the shitty work for a song will usually survive. Not applicable for blue collar work.

Cut high earners the easiest way out...with fewer number of people to be affected.

My company however decided a different approach with a longer term view...well at least for now with a five year horizon.

Peeps command higher salary here have proven to be reliable, not forgetting the vast experiences gathered over times.

We’re using this new low across all industries to position our entire group of business units as a stronger market leader in the industry when the turnaround happen...going to tap on all available technologies (mgmt is hoping to attain at a bargain) to prep for a 5G world.

my recent acquired HW phone is 5G ready for some high speed, high res prawning 😝

A neighbour is a pilot. Drives a Merc. Today saw that he has the private hire decal on his car. Times are tough for everyone.  Need to do what needs to be done.

For pilots, it's really an unprecedented crisis.

From ferrying passengers in the sky to ferrying passengers on the ground...

There is always a one down? Of course cannot fire all senior management team, just accelerating succession plan while cutting cost and getting rid of non performers.

If one down is not ready, fire the one down loh. Cannot grow revenue, must cut cost. So it is usually the middle or senior management that are killed.  Seen it so many times but it might not be representative everywhere.

Got salary but there is also mandatory no pay leave, I heard, and if you don't fly, there is no allowance, a big part of overall compensation.

If the company have too many such management staff earning 5 digits a month, surely must get rid some of them, since i always find these people, their 1 month pay can hire many executive level or even 2-3 managers. Dont know why need to pay so much salary for that one person only? Lol.

Yes, PHV business should pick up as more people go back to work and to minimize risk, choose to take taxi or Grab instead of public transport.
