This website is quite interesting. I did some digging about all the cutoff points for NUS.

Nowadays Science cut off is AAA and engineering is like BBC... last time all the science students are like crap.

To me the solution is to increase the prestige of the engineering course in one of our Universities. Or open an elite course where the intake is few, pump in the money for the course. Let them do attachment's overseas, or dual degree with some nice overseas uni.

Do up a prestigious engineering scholarship with VERY good terms, no bond, etc. Not the SGIS scrap which one one want to sign on for.

You notice Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, all have higher COP now bcos they are hot and well paid.

This is supply and demand game. If today engineering companies can pay as well as Amazon, Facebook, i tell you the engineering COP will be AAA also.

It seems that undergraduates are flocking to Life Sciences, Pharma and Biotech now.

Deja vu?

10-20 years down the road,  will they end up with the same fate like Engineering?

Your industry machiam like SGX.

Whether market boom or market crash, SGX still make good money from buyers and sellers.

one of the things we are fighting is the perception that electronics engineering pay badly.

I am pretty sure most people are not familiar how much IC design engineers get paid on average. I am not sure how much facebook/amazon engineers in singapore get paid though. Any ideas?

I posted before somwhere already. masters fresh grad, annual around $90k.

with experience can vary a lot. For IC design, phd with maybe 4 years experience 140k-150k/annum. These are just rough estimation, not necessary accurate.

There is a big jump in recent years, due to China pouring lots of money into IC design.

How much is computer science master grad getting?

it's sad that jobs that develop products, compete in technologies and improve the standard of living get paid less than those work that produce nothing much, eg landlords, property agents, social media influencers 😔

It is not the innovation of  products that people pay for. It is the value that they get from the product/service that people pay for.

An influencer  provides  marketing value that is perceived as extremely valuable by the businesses. Influencer has millions of targeted consumers which the businesses need to engage and connect. Influencers constantly produce content to attract those  consumers. It is not nothing. Producing content takes hard work, 24/7 dedication because social media doesn't sleep,   and a 2-minute video clips they show could have taken them 2 weeks to plan, half a day to shoot and another 2 days to edit. And if those content doesn't engage, keep going until it works, otherwise, they just have to  keep eating bread since there will be no income for all the work.

Try to do that everyday, and most people would give up figuring that it is just easier to get a regular corporate job

There is value in every high paying job/service. Just because we don't see it doesn't mean they produce nothing.

in the future get a job that pay by “result” or “outcome”

influencer, youtuber, tiktoker, etc

1 video [thumbsup] = 1 person 1 month or 1 year salary count by hourly rate ...

if your job is paid by hourly/weekly/monthly means you have hit the ceiling liao [bigcry]

that’s why so many video in youtube looking for students instead of selling products or services ... lol

I think security guard now earn more $1500.......

Then another has a Master Degree end up doing tennis coaching... Why not apply a better job? Or open a tennis school?

If mediocre.... shouldn't be here to compete with entry level jobs..

"At her current monthly income of S$1,500, she would not qualify for the S-Pass, which has a different quota, unless her employer is willing to bump her pay up to hit the S-Pass minimum criteria of S$2,500."

Experts said the move stings women disproportionately and could also hit Singapore’s attractiveness to foreign expatriates

We should reply them.

Yes we welcome foreign expat.

Then make sure they are here on expat package

Cover accommodation and transport, international school.

If they are not expat package.

Then they are only foreigner workers.
