Expat from where , man?

Heh heh

maybe the owner let the expat delay / owe rentals due to covid19 but the expat left without paying after losing his / her job? Deposit may not be able to cover the rental owed?

Poor implementation as usual.

People bonded to you of course must give priority lah.

Otherwise release the bond lor. In that case, lose money and talent And time & effort.

Problems are starting to emerge

Good.  Since they were given tidy sums of money for tuition fee and allowance, they should also be bonded to do sai kang right, esp during times like this.

Can't be taking the tax payers' money and expect to be bonded to do cushy jobs, right?

Alot of essential sectors are still recruiting.

Because Singapore govt has bond over them.  How to go back?

Cannot go home then stay here and work in whatever jobs they can. To say that the govt should be responsible for them is bulls**t. The bond isn't supposed to be a perk.

Imagine take our 200mil/yr, get bonded and govt got to be responsible for finding a job for them?

It is not stupid expectation.

If govt want to bond them, get them a proper job.  Otherwise, just release them.

The bond is for them to contribute to Singapore in return for their free/subsidized education. It is not for the govt to give further benefits to them. Helping them find jobs is a benefit.

Cannot find job? Repay the subsidy and go home.

Give them a job is not a benefit.  It is a way for them to repay the bond.

In addition, it will be an immigration issue that's not a fault of them.

During normal times when one can easily find a job, it is not a benefit.

Now cannot find jobs easily, it is indeed a benefit.

Local grads also cannot find jobs, can they ask for refund of school fees? Covid is also no fault of theirs.

No choice. This pandemic and the effect on the economy is unprecedented. Think it make a lot of sense to preserve jobs that the locals (have more commitment) are already in instead of freeing it for young talented foreigners who do not have as much bills to pay (and they can seek help from their own government while locals have no other government to go to). They can happily return to serve out their bond when things get better in a couple years. 🙂

(Edited: I was wrong on this. Singapore gov really covered such situation too.) Think probably there is no option for this cos it is not their fault that Singapore cannot stick to the bargain. Under normal circumstances, some people will be happy to be freed from bond but not many jobs around the globe and people want to serve out their bonds.
