Dalane this is exactly where you went wrong.

young candidates

Should have gone for mature and experienced candidates.

This is also where Dalane went wrong.

Interview is a two way street not people begging you for a job.

I felt I was being interviewed as a employer not doing my job to interview potential employees.

This is where recruiters go wrong. They get hundreds of applicants and they always call the wrong ones for interview and then complain cannot find good local candidates.

When I interview I always find so many good candidate I feel sad I cannot employ them all.

Once I had 2 ex stewardess I really wanted to employ but I only had vacancies and not four.

Lousy interviewers always say cannot find good candidates

Lousy managers always say cannot find good staff.

I always find too many good candidates

and never have problems employing good staff.

The problem is people don't know how to interview.

They don't how to select which candidates to call in and which not to.

So call the wrong ones and say lousy waste their time.

Everyone thinks they know how to interview.

Which interviewer know they are bad at interviewing?

Going for training we learn about bias and prejudice and judging a book by its cover.

Once example.

A father and son were in a car accident. The father dies on the spot and the ambulance brought the boy to hospital and into the operating room.

The surgeon looked at the boy and said - I cannot operate on him. He is my son.

How can this be?

Hiring locals also not easy

I took at look at his photos and I know why he posted the article. As usual, say locals choosy.

He didn’t even said what’s the position.

Honestly alot of interviewers are bad interviewers.. most are check box ticker which robots can do.. they ask standard question and DO NOT know how to interpret the response.. not the response they want they will mark down..

Bad interviewers hired clowns to the work force and indirectly increase the turn over WHICH keep the interviewers job! whahahahahaha..

Turbocharged

All the suggestions and checks mentioned here.. do u guys seriously think they don't know?

Top brains we have yet can't do these simple things peasants like us can think of?

In my opinion, they know, but not willing to. They are simply giving us lip service to appease the sentiments.

Let's think back, what CECA comprised of, and which companies are heavily vested in it. Is Temasek involved? I heard DBS had many branches opened in many Indian cities. Singtel also. How many billions already dunked in? If we go back on CECA obligations, what happens to these invested money?

So.. lppl, CECA cannot scrap. Trash will continue to infest and breed. Only way is to change to a professional that aren't touched.. yet..

Long ago I had a gf that aced the interview.

A few month later her superior said he is very surprise she is not hard working.

He said he had another girl before her and she looked just like that girl and that girl was very hard working.

This guy is a professor or associate professor

and thinks he can see people are hard working or not

based on their face.

Blame me for for having the wrong perception,  please show me data to correct my perception.

And if what they have been saying is true, why suddenly MAS has become so proactive? Since when ?why now ?

I have the same thoughts as you. My friend who is an SME boss complained for years about not being able to get staff and that he really needs FT, then I ask him how much is he paying....😓

Looking at his photos, I can't help but think Delane Lim is someone who had drank the Kool-Aid from the PAP about locals being not hungry enough.

If your mind is already set to identify and made it a point to list examples of those locals who are choosing, chances are you're already biased and it's not surprising you only get the wrong fit of candidates someway or another.

It is either he is lying or somebody else is lying. The 2 numbers do not match at all, or I failed somewhere?

It is because singaporeans have decided to speak up not that the government has decided to do a little bit. Unless you are a homemaker and does not walk out of your home, the feeling inside MRT and office buildings are that you are in a foreign country. MOM like to gives numbers but I am sure they know many companies contract out their services instead of inhouse staff. Did they look at these companies too? If indeed qe have 1.4 m CECA, where are they?

This was what the india envoy announced.

He's an official so he should have access to such information

If depends on MTI or JT

The answer would be
