one if the differentiation inF1 is PU. if F1 adopt e-power kind of hybrid,

  1. there will likely not be much of a different between different manufacturer (it will likely be a standard FIA component which defeat the purpose of F1)
  2. Fans and organisers will cry over the lack and inconsistent engine sound.
  3. The battery and/super capacitor will need to be able to handle the high stress of rapid charge and discharging and need significant cooling. Will likely increase the weight of the car significantly
  4. This will result in a race to develop a lightweight  and efficient power ICE (power generator) which Ferrari will veto as it is not relevant to supercars

F1 has been using hybrid powertrain since 2009 with the introduction of KERS.

From 2006 to 2013, F1 has been using 2.4L which is irrelevant to Ferrari then already.

With the introduction of 1.6L, it is the quietest F1 in history.

Nope. 2006 to 2013 is 2.4L but still a V8 engine. So It is still much relevant Ferrari road car.

1.6L V6 maybe the quietest in F1 history but since it's introduction, the sound have gotten louder thanks to moving the turbo wastegate tailpipe away from exhaust pipe.

Also note the current 1.6l v6 hybrid  is a compromise between FIA and all manufactures. FIA wanted inline 4 hybrid initially. Rumored Renault is supportive of inline 4 but Ferrari is against inline 4 as it is not relevant to their supercars and v6 is the compromise.

The key here is Ferrari don't do inline engines in their supercars.

Saw the kicks yesterday at TC and as with any yellow colour car I am attracted to it...

Felt the seats were a little small ah, like the rear seats for eg doesn't support the thighs fully...

Welcome to the Kicks family, buddy!

Happy to have you join @Munhua2, @BobbyBobby and myself!

Between the 4 of us there's two grey, one blue and one red Kicks.

Where are the rest????

been awhile since I visited...was busy with company's project...just got my Kicks serviced (5K) yesterday, was told no need oil change until 10k. FC so far has been very pleasing to me, using 92 grade fuel. Was told that "S" stands for "Sports" rather than "Smart" and could have save more fuel if Eco is selected...but I still prefer the "S" mode of driving...😁

I am considering between the kicks e power and the new Toyota Yaris cross hybrid. I test drove the kicks recently and it was quite a pleasant and fun drive but I am wondering how the car fares when driving at constant high speeds on the highway (90-100km/h). Does it start to lack power compare to a petrol engine and does the fuel consumption worsen?

No in fact i think the kicks epower will be more "torquey"

You can go to give it a try.

Kicks epower pickup speed is very fast even on highway, but is very noise becuase engine is 1.2L 3 cylinder.  All electric motor are not so efficient at high rpm.

I drove the eNote in Japan for two weeks, this is the same design, that my experience

The instant torque is like driving a sports car.

Fantastic acceleration.

That's the whole selling point of the Nissan's e-power.

Get people to enjoy the torque of electric motor, yet totally eliminating the range anxiety and inconveniences for people without access to charging facilities. Brilliant.

in so far, on the highway, the kicks always have been able to get the extra torque to surge forward when needed..while maintaining very comfortable ride...yet been able to rev up when needed for example to overtake...

What kind of question is that? Your a 1 vehicle consumer, and unless you have market clout, say you are buying for a rental company fleet, you can't really negotiate much on dealer's mark up.

Nobody makes a car buying decision on what is the lowest mark up for their car. I mean if you do, that's a very non intuitive way of evaluation.

The car total basic cost is ~72k, but selling at ~106k, is it worth to pay the ~40k premium?

So based on margins for AD/PI, which are the 'wuhua' cars for consumers to buy?

Video from Driver's High Channel Japan.

At 5:22, you can see that the rear view mirror has the video input from the camera mounted at the back (similar to the Range Rover Evoque). Cool sia.

Apparently, the "few K cheaper" new Note compared to Kicks from Tan Chong has this camera rear view mirror!

So perhaps future batches of Kicks may adopt it too (eg premium plus)

Yes, it can be useful in the sense that the view will not be blocked by anything inside the car (eg luggage), however, the resolution (on Toyota Alphard version) may not be that clear, find it difficult to identify approaching car or bikes eg cant tell if its Traffic Police car or bikes! Perhaps in future the clarity will improved.
