some people can communicate with animals, they usually help animal rescue to help the animals' suffering. although we dont know if it is true or not, but at least we can try our best to help those animals!

Warning : its a long post so pls skip if can cause headache ya😅

Saying goodbye n letting go has always and will always be the most difficult part of having pets.

Current Schnauzer is my 3rd.

The previous 2 all said their goodbyes at home.

One was particularly close to mum. After his light lunch one day, he went quietly to mum and just laid down at her feet, and shortly after, breathe his last. On the kitchen floor. 😭

2nd died in my arms. He had kidney n liver issues. Woke me up in bed early morning and was struggling to breathe. He burrowed his body into my arms and just went limp shortly after.😭

Both furkids had countless visits to vets, on medication and never really recovered fully.

The first was a Japanese Spitz and died at 13 years. He was rescued from a drain at 1.5 years old. Checks with spca and numerous newspaper notices did not reveal any owner so he was adopted officially.

2nd was an abused 2.5 years old Maltese. He was kept in a cage outside a HDB flat along a common corridor. Kids will visit and throw stones/whatever at it. Pulled his tail or just creeped up to shout at him. No proper food and he outgrew the small cage. Covered in his faeces, urine and stunk badly. Carried him into the lift and he did not even bother to look at his owner. Just ignored him and hide his face at my neck.

He died at 9 years old.😭

The only furkid that i had to put to sleep at the vet was my 7 years old tabby. He was in pain and internal organs were starting to shut down. Hospitalised for 5 days, on drips but the vet said he is not responding to medication and was in pain.

I still vividly remembered that as i was saying goodbye and stroking his head, his eyes opened. I gently told him that i am going to let him go and told him its ok to go ahead to a better place where there will be no more pain. I saw him smile as the vet injected the chemical. Seconds later he was gone.😭

All ashes scattered in the yard garden under an old tree. I like to think that they are all running about freely, if they want to visit.😔😢

Why am i sharing a long story? Cos every furkid is different and perhaps only you know best what he needs.

Frankly, all they want is to be with you as long as they can. Because of that, personally, i do not take the easy way out to put them to sleep unless they are really in pain.

Its a hard call.

No different when family members have to decide to pull the plug off the life support machine for a loved one.

Hope you and wifey will do what's best n good for your furkid. No guilt. No condemnation. Letting go is sometimes how u show him your love.

Just sharing. Pardon the long posts.

Stay safe. Take care

don't worry about the subcut. They get used to it. You'll get used to it.

The prick in is slightly painful but it is a life saver I can tell you. My queen's blood tests actually got better over the last 3 years, esp with 2x sub Q.

I sub Q my queen daily (sometimes 2x daily) for more than 3 years. Once the needle is in, it's ok already. Just don't push into the flesh. Lift up the skin flap. If you want the liquid to go in faster, squeeze the bag. The vets do so as well. I can finish a sub Q (200mls each time) in 2 min if I squeeze. Helps to end the unpleasant session fast. More time to recover.

Get a prescription and buy the sub Q + line + needles from a public hospital pharmacy. Or you can buy it from Progress Healthcare (no prescription required) at Jalan Besar. Much cheaper in the long run vs buying from the vet.

tried the tortilla wrap using her favourite blanket. no struggle. might be feeling weak she allowed us to wrap her up. maybe she feel safer too

thanks for all the advice. vet followup is another weeks time so hopefully i bring some good news or improvements. we will be happy just to have 'stable' too if that means a littlemore time with her

All pets leave a void in our lives;  many sleepness nights after his  demise ; Mine died at age 6 1/2 only so you can even imagine how painful the loss is; Mine's a GT (adopted him when he was given up at 9 months old full of ticks and other issues/deficiencies due to trauma  and neglect) and still he melted me n the whole family

indeed they do leave a huge void. the loss is real. may I ask what breed is a GT?

thank you for sharing your heartfelt post. teared when I read the part about saying goodbye

my little girl has fallen ill at the start of april just after circuit breaker started. the road to recovery is not easy. some days better than others. then condition deteriorates suddenly. rushing to the vet every few days.

vet has told us to bring her home so that she is more comfortable and in a less stressful environment as her condition is stagnant

in fact from tone of vet she has hinted us to be mentally prepared

but at least the vomiting and diarrhoea stopped

but as we understand from kidney diseases everyhing deteriorates fast. from doing okie to having multiple issues all over her including her lungs, liver, heart. one after another

we are helpless but we are trying

may not be able to post here so often but will update her condition as and when

am grateful for all the sharings here

hard times now. do stay safe and healthy everyone

I gotta sign out from all the heart wrenching posts...can only imagine the helplessness...

I’d need to make an immediate trip to supermarket for tissue papers if I share these posts with my wife and daughter...

Best of luck to all and speedy recovery from whatever the outcome may be.

Let your furkid eat all the shiok shiok food normally you don't give. Hamburger etc.

they are a lot stronger than we give them credit for. and you had mentioned she is a feisty little fighter. So that are all in her favor. And "stable" is good. Just continue with the feeding and sub Q diligently. This is your best shot in helping her recover.

Sometimes they slump but perk up the next day. Have experienced many of such episodes as 4 of mine have departed in recent years. Don't be discouraged when she slumps a little.

Fight alongside her till she tells you it might be time to ease her pain. You'll know when she is on the road to recovery or when she thinks it's time to say goodbye too.

But regardless, the years she had with you might be the best years she could ever had. And possibly also yours.

Do take care.

No idea about the AC but having been in your situation multiple times with my dogs and cats, there comes a time when you have to let go and put the animal out of it's suffering.

From what you're describing, i'd say it's time to let the little one go already 😔

Agreed..wish I could help you but I don't know any AC nor have heard any of them so far
