If this is true...then PI is worried. I remember BM bought in the turbo Harrier after PI has been selling for a while. This time, YC is even before PI starts selling. BM is really changing for the better. I guess their new lady boss is really good.

It is true and yes PI shld be worried. they hv learnt the lessons from Toyota Wish of years back when they missed a big share of sales from this popular model. Harrier n C-HR they pulled up their socks but still not fast enough. This YC they really up the ante by rolling out so quickly and priced competitively.

wonder if BM will bring in petrol Yaris Cross? Or are they planning for petrol Yaris instead? They haven't had a proper Jazz competitor in quite sometime.

Personally, I doubt that Borneo will bring in the petrol YC as I suspect they wont want the petrol to undercut the sales of the hybrid version. They will need numbers to justify the hybrid YC since likely the principal supported the lower margins (my speculation only).

As for Yaris itself, there is a possibility of it coming here I feel as there is a local market for a Jap NA HB which is almost non existent these days bar Jazz, Mz2 which are both long in the tooth. New Jazz locally rumoured to be a City HB instead so it’s much bigger and not same class. Borneo has not had this size of car since the Starlet days.

However, one benefit of SUV practicality is often pitched as the ease of fitting child seats in the back.

That can’t be the case in the Yaris Cross, because the rear doors barely open far enough for easy adult entry and egress, let alone fitting a child seat! The rear seat trims are basic, too, although the roofline and larger rear windows make for a less claustrophobic feel in the back seat compared to the Yaris hatch. https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-reviews/toyota-yaris-cross-81405#

Neutral Newbie

Went to BM yesterday to see the Yaris cross hybrid. Price was 99888 as others had stated even though the rebate increased from 10k to 15k...

Also, the earliest delivery seems to be March. Is it better to buy now at the "introductory price" of 99888 or wait till Feb/ March to see if BM changes the price to include the higher rebate or when there is more competition from PIs?

I doubt if BM will ever give back the rebate as they have used this extra VES rebate of $5k plus the increase in price $3k (total $8k) to help offset the increase in COE Cat A price (approx $4k). Yes there is still a $4k diff but likely they will use it to bid COE more aggressively or they will pocket as bigger margin. Only way price will go down is if COE decreases. Just my opinion only.

I think not yet....now you can only book, can't drive.

If still cant test drive means Borneo not successful in putting YC on the road this year. Their 1st batch offer was for cars to be registered by end 2020 so looks like they either didnt get COE or car has not passed homologation yet.
