jethrojireh Clutched January 15, 2021 Share January 15, 2021 I have just passed my TP Test (Class 3A) on 13th January 2021 (0800) with 14 demerit points on my first attempt at CDC. The demerit points that I have gotten: 8 Points for Proceed on Amber Light/Blinking Green Arrow 2 Points for Fail To Check Blind Spot 2 Points for Wide Turning 2 Points for Fail to adjust Mirror before Moving Off Total: 14 Demerit Points, 0 Immediate Failure. I have some learning points and experiences that I would like to share. It may or may not help you, but it did helped me. When I first got my TP Test Date, I was honestly very disappointed as I did not get to choose the timing that I wanted or the day that I wanted. It was on a Wednesday morning at 8am. I also missed 2 lessons before my TP Test as I made the wrong booking and I gotten a Manual Car instead of Auto Car (I learn Class 3A). So without any additional preparations or practices, I proceed to the warm-up early in the morning at 630am. In the warm-up, I managed to strike curb 5 times and even mount the curb once. I was devastated and honestly loss all hopes in myself of passing the Test. So after the warm-up, I went to the toilet and wash up and mentally prepare myself for the legit and final test that I have to face. At 8am, my instructor left me by the car side and I had to stand there till the Tester came up to me. There is an entire row of Testee (Roughly 7-8 of us from what I've observed), and I was one of the last few to leave. I greeted the Tester and showed him my IC. I then proceed to enter the car, adjust the seat, put on my seatbelt, adjust the mirrors and started the engine. He told me to proceed into the circuit and I did so. Whilst in the circuit, I did quite a few wide turning (As I rather get 2 points for those Wide Turning than to get 10 points for Striking Curb). I did all my parkings nicely and proceed to turn outside of the Circuit onto the roads. While doing that, I have forgotten to adjust my mirrors and I got faulted for that. I drove around 40-45km/h however most of the time it was like 30km/h due to the heavy traffic in the morning. I then made a u-turn slowly, however I forgotten to off my signals after changing lanes. I also accidentally ran an Amber Light as I was honestly quite tired already. If I was 1-2 seconds later, I would have gotten an immediate failure. After that I returned to CDC, and received my Passing Grade which honestly surprised me a lot. The learning points for me are: 1) No matter what time slot or day it is, just do what you do best and follow all the traffic rules (Bus Lane or No Bus Lane). 2) Take every Lesson that you have seriously as if they are your Test. 3) Greet the Tester, talk to him in a very respectful manner. 4) Take note of your Signals & Mirrors and not be forgetful as me. 5) If you are unsure whether the lights will turn Amber, just always slow down, in the case where it does turn Amber. For Circuit: 1) For Parallel Parking, there is many different way for people to do it. But for me, I park slightly closer to the lot, reverse till my Left Back Wheel has just touch the lot opening and turn full right, then slow down once I see 1/2 of the parking lot from my right mirror. I then set the wheel straight once I almost reach 3/4, then reverse till my Right Back Wheel has just touched the opening. I then turn full left and just let the car roll all the way into the lot. Do remember to check your blind spots! 2) For Vertical Parking, I drive further away from the curb, angle it out ever so slightly. I then turn full left, and start to reverse. I will correct myself as I am reversing. If I am too close to one side, I'll drive out and try again. Remember to check your blind spots, this part is very important. 3) For Crank Course, my only advice is drive very slow (It doesn't matter), but turn your steering wheel fast once your steering wheel is parallel to the curb either on your left or right. If I am not wrong, there is no need to check for blind spots while inside the Course. 4) S Course, it is fairly easy and I have seen many done it easily. However, just take note to check your blind spots before entering the Course, and check your Left/Right mirrors while doing the Course itself. This way you can make 100% sure that you don't strike a curb or waste any points in here. 5) For the Slope (AUTO), stop before the yellow line, depress your brake and pull the Handbrake. Depress your Accelerator a little, put down the Handbrake and proceed. Remember to turn on your signal before moving off and check your blind spots. For the Road: 1) Always stop at stop line. 2) Drive slowly, but not too slow. 3) Look out for whichever lane you are using (The Tester will ask you to overtake and switch lanes if he wants to make your life harder, for me, I didn't keep left as he want me to overtake.) 4) Always be ready to stop near a traffic lights and check your Rear Mirror before you brake. 5) Yes, the most important one is constantly check your Mirrors. Check your Rear Mirror every 5 seconds, your Left and Right Mirror every time you turn or change lanes. Just be kiasu for this and I promise you, you will not be penalized for Blind spots that much. Hope this helps some people out there. I decided to type this out as previously I was looking at blogs, posts and comments about driving. I could not find a lot but I really appreciate those that share their experiences to others. So now that I have passed, I will share mine too.

Thats why many accident happened due to this.
Ct3833 Supersonic January 15, 2021 Share January 15, 2021 how many time one passes his driving test is not important, the survey should be , how many time have you involved in accidents over a period of how long, then work out number of accident/year. 😄 1

Daryllim69 5th Gear January 18, 2021 Share January 18, 2021 My experience with driving test is that we are at the mercy of the Testers. If they want to pass you, they can always pass you. If they want to fail you, there is a thousand and one reasons to do so. Let me give a small recap of my experience. FYI, it took me 4 test to get through. 1st Test: Everything swee swee, thinking that passing the test would be a given when driving back to centre. Then came the bombshell, "FAILED". Reason given, did not check blind spots. I tried reasoning with Tester that I did checked and my head did turn when checking. His reply, yes, I did turn my head but was just going through motion and not really checking. I argued back to say that I did check and the fact that there is no cars next to me when I switched lanes is evident that I check. Tester replied coldly, "Sorry, if you are on the road yourself, you probably have resulted in a traffic accident. I cannot pass you and you can arrange for a retest." I was like WTF! 2nd Test: 2 weeks after my first test, was still feeling sianz after my first experience. Didn't get through the zip zap course probably due to not able to concentrate and not much practice after failing my first test. 3rd Test: Vehicle engine stalled while trying to move off from slope. 4th Test: I stopped for almost 2 months since my 3rd test as I am really demoralised by the previous 3 failures. Anyway, decided to have one more go and only arranged 2 lessons before my fourth test date with a different private instructor. The night before my 4th test happens to be my last practice session and the instructor says that I probably can't get through the test as I am still not very confident. Anyway, proceeded to Ubi Test Centre and my slot is actually the last slot of the day. The instructor told me usually learners taking this slot will not get through as each tester can only pass a few learners a day. Being the last slot, it is likely that the quota is full. Waited for the tester and went to the car as instructed. Start engine and started driving through the course. At each station, upon successful completion, the tester will comment that he likes my driving and all my actions is standard. As such, as each station passed, my confidence grew and managed to get through the circuit smoothly. Then it started raining badly and I was like cursing and swearing my bad luck. The tester, probably feeling my frustration, turn to me and said, just drive out and we will do a quick U-Turn to come back to the centre. No point going through the routes since it is raining heavily and is peak hours so traffic will be very very bad. True enough, he guided me to do a U-Turn and we are back in the test centre in no time, probably less than 5 mins. Then the long wait before the Tester comes back with a smile on his face. Results is a "Pass"! So, to me, it's a Heng or Suay kind of thing. To the bros with luck, you get through with the first sitting. To people like me, 4th time. 4

Tester asked me to use my test paper if I wanted to drive the very same night!!! 2

ateo39 Neutral Newbie January 22, 2021 Share January 22, 2021 (edited) I just took my TP test today. Failed horribly, strike pole at ramp which leads to immediate failure. Never got to strike pole in my whole driving experience. During usual practice lessons I always thought I did not accelerate enough and hence during TP I accelerate more than usual. TP was extremely shocked cos he was ready to head down to remove the pole but he pointed to it when we both witnessed the pole falling down and had a loud metal falling sound. He said I brake too late. $$$$ fly. Afterwards, TP still proceed on with parking, crank course as usual. Maybe he wanted to let me drive more before heading back to the test area. Felt really demoralized and shitty haha hope I really can pass the next TP test. Don't even have the courage to book the next one now. All my friends comforted me by saying only 50% passed the first time but somehow all my friends passed their first TP test. BTW I did greet the TP by saying "good afternoon sir" but he didn't reply soooo I had a bad feeling since then :"( Edited January 22, 2021 by ateo39 ↡ Advertisement 2
