yes yes….crowded, that why i dunno how to take a picture....if lower, everyone will be blocking the view, and i went higher, see pple's head....haiiyyyooo

Zoom in and just take some interesting part... that's why in crowded touristy places, a good zoom lens is very important... hahaha... crop out the crowd...

Ricoh GR (28mm) is very compact and seems to have good reviews from those who own it. It may not look nice and it is very compact and AF is reliable.

I'm a bit kiasu... don't really like fixed lens, even though I know the image quality will be much better than an average zoom... like to have flexibility hahaha... I really dig the A6500 & 16-70mm zoom... total damage about $4000 new... a bit much I feel...

The best solution is come in the early morning to get a shot for good light. But if you cannot, the better solution is stay away from the crowds like I did in Milan. Find a relatively empty patch of space, use a wider lens and put your family in the foreground and the building crowds as background.
for Notre dame below, I went to a side street instead of the crowded plaza in front of the building.

Wah that looks like some climb up and down... I presume that's the sheltered train track for the train you talk about? My word... looks really scary... hahaha... no way I can hike up there with my wife and two kids...

is kinda ok, not too bad, drove to mid point, then sat the cable car up, then another 20 mins of climb...pretty alright i would say....but it is an adventure by it self just driving up to the mountains...roads are pretty wide and on some occasions the we stopped to enjoy the view...

nice view. I stayed in Salzburg once but I never knew about this cave near it. I have pretty bad experiences in Austria.

Stayed two nights in Innsbruck and I NEVER saw the mountains at all. And I lost my ipad there on the first day of the trip. Liked vienna though.

Wah... drool-worthy! Really nice weather! But a very tricky scene to take a good photo... auto HDR would be nice!

I would not call Austria Eastern Europe. Even Prague is more Western Europe in prices and crowds. Prague is really crowded.
