what is the science behind the warming up of cars other then when u in a cold country ?

I know some who warm up because the car says so. Like diesel

Some warm up because when u start up, the engine idle went higher than usual.

Some warm up because, the weather so hot that need to cool the car first before moving off.

Erm. For me I think is a habit. When we park our car overnight or even longer oil tend to go back to the oil pan due to gravity. So I always have a habit of warming up the car and making sure that the whole engine is fully lubricated before I start to rev it. I dunno how much it helps regarding preventive measures. But it is just a habit for me.

If I am rushing for time, definitely I do not have the luxury to do so. hahah.

While experts say there is no need to warm up cars nowadays, cars are still physical contraptions with mechanical parts. Metal parts need time to warm up and expand evenly, lubricants need time to lubricate every part. So while we don't need a 10 min warm up, I would still like to give the car a little time to reach "steady-state."

I still see some cars with "Daily Driven" stickers left untouched for days in my carpark.
Can remove the sticker liao 😅

I drive it to the basement and rooftop of my carpark every day (takes about 5-10 minutes) if I don't have errands to run like buying food or heading to the supermarket

Erm. I never really count. But usually I will monitor the rev and the temp. When I see the rev from about 1800 go down to 1400-1200 and I see the temp needle got move up abit, I will drive le. haha.

Turbocharged

30 - 60 sec is enough to warm up the engine, when the tacometer does down from above 1,000rpm to the 800rpm idling speed. Drive an a snail's pace for the next 5 mins to reach operating temp before you rev the engine.

I usually spend about a minute. Turn on the ignition and walk around my car inspect for any damage or anything and check all tyres' condition.

By the time the checks are done I head back into car and do multiple rev until redline (just kidding) ... I drive below 2k rpm until engine reaches optimum temperature..

thats not warm up. The rpm drops cause you, no longer need a rich mixture to light up the catalytic converters to their optimum efficiency.

the engine and gearbox oils are still cold. it is only when the water temps are at operating temperatures can you say that warm up complete.
