Risk of crowds gathering in restaurant and nightclub on the eve of the ban on the one-meter safe distance ban

The Tourism Bureau, the Enterprise Development Bureau and the police emphasized that the authorities knew that some nightclub operators planned to hold a "farewell" event yesterday before the regulations requiring the temporary closure of entertainment venues took effect. Authorities warned that before 11:59 tonight, nightclub operators must strictly implement the safety distance measures announced earlier, and the organizers must also take protective measures, such as ensuring that attendees maintain a one-meter distance.

On the eve of the order suspension, Clarke Quay Bar and Restaurant still had a wave of alcoholic guests last night, and the table did not maintain a safe social distance of one meter, and the carnival atmosphere continued.

The anti-epidemic cross-departmental working group announced the day before yesterday that from 11:59 tonight, all local bars and entertainment venues (nightclubs, discos, cinemas, theaters, karaoke shops, etc.) must be closed until April 30, further reducing crown disease. Risk of epidemic spread.

"Lianhe Zaobao" reporter visited Clarke Quay last night and found that most of the bars and restaurants' tables have not maintained a one-meter social distance. Many young people gathered at the scene to enjoy the "last night before the ban."

Customer: Just closed for a month

Wang Ruiqi (23), who works in marketing, revealed that she only came to the bar to celebrate her friend's birthday. After all, the entertainment venue was only closed for a month, and there was still a chance to drink, so she didn't come here before the ban.

Student Chen (20 years old), who often goes to the bar for a drink, is disappointed that he cannot go to the bar the next month. He said: "There are many places you can't go now. If you can't even come to the bar, life will be boring."

Liu Zhihua (23 years old, transportation industry) told reporters that he had never been to a bar before and did not know how long the epidemic would last, so he rushed to try new food before the epidemic prevention measures took effect.

The reporter found out that at least three nightclubs had promoted last night's party and discount activities on social media. After the news spread, a large number of netizens condemned them, saying that the industry was irresponsible for waiting for an opportunity to “find a sum” .

Cherry Discotheque Singapore, a nightclub on Silk Street, originally planned to host a "Farewell Party", but at the last minute announced the closure of the nightclub until further notice.

The nightclub posted a post on its Facebook account last night saying that management apologized for inadequate consideration and took full responsibility for the decision-making process that lacked thorough consideration, and management was working to improve the standard operating procedures.

Law enforcement officers will step up patrols

The Singapore Tourism Board, the Singapore Enterprise Development Board and the Singapore Police Force issued a joint statement yesterday stressing that the authorities knew that some nightclub operators were planning to hold a "farewell" event yesterday before the regulations requiring the temporary closure of entertainment venues came into effect.

Authorities point out that these activities may lead to large gatherings of the public, weakening the effectiveness of the epidemic prevention efforts and increasing public health risks.

Authorities also warned that before 11:59 tonight, nightclub operators must strictly implement the previously announced safety distance measures, including suspension of events for more than 250 people. If the number of participants is less than 250, the organizer must also take necessary protective measures, such as ensuring that attendees maintain a distance of one meter.

Violations of safety distance regulations will be banned. In the next two days, law enforcement officers of various government departments, including the police, will step up their patrols to keep an eye on the situation, and traffic police will blitz drunk driving across the island.

While commenting the American for their act of social irresponsibility, sorry to say that we also have lots of the same kind of people here.

Can you google translate this please? Not everyone can read Chinese me included.  😥

COVID-19 Claims Aircraft Carrier USS Roosevelt As Latest Victim

https://breakingdefense.com/2020/03/covid-19-claims-aircraft-carrier-uss-roosevelt-as-latest-victim/

The carrier was in the midst of a deployment to the Philippine and South China seas when eight sailors tested positive for the virus earlier this week, leading the Navy to order the ship to Guam to begin testing all 5,000-plus sailors aboard. It’s unclear how long the ship will remain pierside, but the move cuts in half the number of carriers in the Pacific, leaving only the USS Ronald Reagan, which is currently in port in Japan.

How did these 8 sailors get infested by the coronavirus on board the aircraft carrier?  The carrier did not make any port call in Japan, Philippine or Vietnam, where did the virus came from?

That's another showcase of Trump's naivety again. The ventilator has many sophisticated parts that are manufactured in different parts of the world. This is not something you can ask a car manufacturer to copy and paste 40,000 copies to. Yes, in WW2, US has made car manufacturers produced tanks, but mechanically, cars and tanks have more in common. The ventilator is a different machine altogether.

This is like asking me and @Angcheekto do a brain surgery operation simply because we both know how to use knife to cut a steak.

This is ridiculous.
