The Hong Kong comic follows Old Master Q and his sidekicks in their hilarious adventures. However, what’s not so funny is that on Wednesday (7 Apr), the publisher of the well-loved comic, Mr Wu Zhongxing, passed away at age 98, reported the Sin Chew Daily. Lao Fu Zi was made famous with his help According to the China Press, Mr Wu was the founder of Ng Hing Ke Book & Newspaper Agency, the publishing company in charge of Old Master Q comics. He first saw the work of artist Alfonso Wong Kar Hei in the papers in 1964, and wanted to work with him. Along with Mr Wong, who died in 2017, Mr Wu promoted the series to new heights. At its peak, editions were seen in almost every neighbourhood barber in Asia. In the 90s, he also actively made new changes to keep Lao Fu Zi relevant. Till today, Lao Fu Zi remains a recognisable name among millennials. Left behind a 56-Year legacy Many fans are thankful for Mr Wu’s contributions to the success of the comic book over the past 56 years.
