Been driving 2.5 dynamic force motor for a few weeks.  Lacking in torque so 8 speed auto keeps changing gears. Leads to jerkiness and engine noise. Also at Low revs engine sounds a bit like a diesel.  UX 200 similar, but cvt means no obvious gear changes. UX 250h powertrain is very refined compared to both.

Sounds like Diesel is normal. It uses Direct Injection.

The 8 speeds is CVT. CVT needs to be driven in certain way to reduce harshness and noisy

I agree sounding like a diesel is normal for this engine.  But it’s not the same sound as the direct injection as both my car, and the two UX models also are DI but don’t sound like this. And I can confirm the Current ES250 uses an auto, not cvt. My own car uses a ecvt.

No more Turbo

Previously, Harrier was brought in likely due to combined volume with Malaysia.  Malaysia has 12 mths waiting list for Harrier.

Now, not sure.  Malaysia just launched RAV4.  Under current economic environment, unsure about Harrier.

the rav4 prime which the US has , is the one to get.

Harrier (2.0t) was Borneo cash cow last 3 years before new RAV4 appeared on the scene.

Agreed now if Harrier is entirely same engine combi as RAV4 but 20k more expensive, it could be difficult for Borneo to position it.

But they are in a bad state for their traditional sedan dominance. New camrys on road are 99% PI. New Corolla is very rare due to high price/low specs in a shrinking segment now dominated by Kia Forte. Most CH-R on road are also PI PHV rides.

So they may still need to bring in more SUVs to try.

RAV4 prime is useless in Singapore.  No owner will charge the battery via wall plug.

We are "Sore Thumb" in Asean Market for TMAP.

We are "too rich" to accept Asean Car.

We are too small (volume) to make any new model profitable.

Toyota can fight with PI with following lineup:
Raize - Entry level CUV

Yaris Cross - fight off Vezel

Corolla Cross -

RAV4 - Rugged

Harrier - Premium

RAV4 is really barebone.  The screen really CMI.

Some eyes the exterior design is beautiful.

Indeed. Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder.

"Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder" is universal truth.

Owner will spent most of the time INside.

I seriously doubt BM will bring Raize although I see your point.

Ok this one looks presentable but current Altis and esp the orginal RAV4 HU cmi for sure but I understand for RAV4, BM changed the HU after negative feedback i think.

yup... everyone can give comments... and blah blah. in the eyes of the manufacturer, their sales are still high and good. why they care. the "some" people who are willing to part with their money for a CMI product are still enough to make a difference.

bottom line  for the big brands is..."want to buy just buy, not happy... just F.. off."
