South Korea on Tuesday hit back at claims that its Covid rules for Chinese travelers are “discriminatory,” saying more than half of its imported cases are coming from China.

In a response to CNBC, Seung-ho Choi, a deputy director at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said that up to 80% of “imported confirmed cases” in South Korea are coming from China.

Choi said the number of people traveling from China who tested positive for Covid-19 went up 14 times from November to December.

Choi also said that its policies cover “all Korean nationals and non-Korean nationals coming from China. This is not confined only to Chinese people. There is no discrimination for nationality in this measure.”

The wait in HK to get mRNA vaccine shot is about 3months. If they could do it here...siao liao, all flock here.

China no have mRNA vaccine nvm, just open the gates. At the same time save face on own vaccines knowing they are less effective.

Meanwhile in sg many still hesitant taking boosters, some even are anti-vaxxers.

The reopening could be more gradual and they could have been more prepared to minimize deaths of elderly.  I am shocked by the big bang approach, which is totally inconsistent with their earlier narrative.

With 1.4 billion people and a huge order, I would expect the PRC government to drive a very hard bargain.

Should Pfizer forgo some profit (I am sure the profit margins are huge) to save Chinese lives? Of course not, China is richer than Al Salvador and cannot pay less than a poor country.

Anyway, it is all commercial negotiations but both parties don't seems to care about lives that are lost, one due to crazy f. pride, the other due to greed. I don't know enough to judge but this looks bad on both sides.
