IMO, elantra is a day to day drive type of vehicle best to remain NA engine. The simplicity and reliability is best option for elantra. Just like Toyota corolla being the best reliable car in the world has built the reputation of "The Best". Hyundai elantra has come a long way i.e 6th generation to clear all the recall and issue for the engine and hydraulic leak has given a good rating so far. Additional to this, the best value for money would help the elantra making it attractive for certain group of owners. Let other models represent the turbo engine such as veloster and i30N. They are meant for spirited driving. Edited August 1, 2020 by Tcx607
Carbon82 Moderator August 13, 2020 Author Share August 13, 2020 The Elantra N Line is now official. While the spec looks good, I still find the design too busy. The Hyundai Elantra N Line arrives to give the sedan's customers a sportier choice. The new iteration wears a more aggressive body and has extra power to back up the meaner looks. The Elantra N Line uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 201 horsepower and 265 Newton-meters of torque. Customers can select either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The driving experience gets a boost from a stiffer suspension and larger front brakes.

Personally I feel this new Elantra looks good, certainly better than the current facelifted Avante. The smaller infotainment screen though, looks very weird with the buttons surrounding and the blank spaces, very out of place.

I agree that the design is too busy. The lines, the angles and the cuts. It almost rival that of the CH-R and current trend of adding unnecessary lines and angles. Comparing this and the Mazda Kodo design philosophy, Mazda's one is much more pleasing and soothing. Interior-wise, the new Elantra is at its best and thankfully has none of its exterior complicated design.

One of the pic showed the 10.25 in display and its a full edge touchscreen. The base unit knobs and buttons looks very cheap actually. And what's with that horrendous centre tacho??? The tacho's hood looks really loud racer-boy type... ugly!!! And the cowl atop the meters - is that supposed to be a HUD or what? Eww... Really a mishmash of styles I feel...
Tcx607 4th Gear August 14, 2020 Share August 14, 2020 (edited) Nice to have 1.6L GDi turbo engine for Elantra. I searched the website and korea market seem that this N-line is meant for America market. Hyundai has announced the Elantra GT (2L) and hatchback will no longer in production for USA. I guess the america market want a N-line version. Hyundai has suffered drop in market share since 2017 quite drastically due to other make i.e Honda, Toyota and Mazda have make evolution to new car models. I think SG will not see this Elantra turbo version due to our demand. Anyway, it's good to see Hyundai has step up the competition on turbo & high power car. I like it. I like the new CN7 Elantra body design (like stealth look) with matt colour. It definitely stand out😉 Edited August 14, 2020 by Tcx607

If it is around 105k - 110k I think is plenty worth the money for this sort of performance.

Of course, some will but Komoco will need sufficient numbers to justify importing this model in. Without sufficient numbers, principal may not want to sell this model to Komoco. Not forgetting also the 1.5T Civic is going for $11xk but I hope they bring in, to give buyers more choices and also to prove that the Koreans are now on par with the Japs or at worse, just a shade below.
Lala81 Hypersonic August 14, 2020 Share August 14, 2020 Turbo elantra/avante won't sell well here in SG. The i30 i think did ok in terms of sales. Now also gone liao. As u reach that price point, the singaporean consumer will start looking at crossovers, conti brands. 1
