I just wonder when they are going to lead by example. All the govt, quasi govt and stat boards should take the lead to change cars to EV.

Is there any mention that all these so called rebates means they deduct it from your ARF and your super expensive glorified golf cart scrap value will next to nothing at the 10th year?

Knowing our MIW, they cannot be so good die de. See our existing VES thingy? It is extremely unwise to save the env in SG. You end up loosing more than you gain...

So the discount for EV is $17K-$20K depending on OMV.  An EV's OMV is already more than $30K means ARF 140% of OMV or more for luxury make. This is already taxed so high. Got EV that has OMV below $20K? The Tesla battery pack already cost how much? LoL...

Road tax is depending on power rating of the electric motor. On top of road tax there's an additional fuel tax make up fee of

1st year $200 (this is the so called early adoption)

2nd year $400 (what is this called? Getting ready to pay more, all you suckers)

2023 0nwards pay full $700 yearly (song song gao jurong)

On the other hand hybrid cars road tax will reduce by an average of 29%. EVs and Hybrids have a higher basic cost. Higher cost attracts a higher tax. You dont have to be a Math genius on this. Not much difference for EV what. Still Tax Tax Tax. KNS. All these taxing havent even factor in COE.

The $20K discount is bluff children lah. Tax so much liao, what is $20K? Buy a lowly OMV less than $20K small engine petrol car I think can save more. Somemore dont need to wait to charge the car like EV, just pump petrol and go.

I've said it b4 and I will say it again. Full EV vehicle doesn't make you friend of mother earth. You are just passing the pollution quotient from your own car to our power station. Our power stations will need to work double or triple hard when all cars are full EV. And unless SG adopts nuclear power stations, we will pollute the earth way more if every vehicle in SG goes full electric.

And no one can give me any clear explanation what will happen to your EV when your batt dies. And how env friendly are those spent batt be when they go to the rubbish dump?

And how will u guys charge your EV when you are in some kampong area in Bolehland? Or what's preventing you from being mugged and robbed when your lone EV is being charged at some remote charging stations in some unsafe neighborhood?

Rem even with a 70-80L gas tank, it takes ard 5-6 mins to refuel from empty. Is there any DC charger out there that can charge at least 80% from empty in similar time? Every min delay at the remote charging facility in the middle of the night exposes you to more risks of getting mugged.

Summary,

- Capped rebate of up to 20k from ARF. Meaning you get back less scrap value and ADs will mark up 20k to cover this gap

- Additional Flat Road Tax (AFRT) component applies across board to all EVs regardless of how much you drive. For petrol vehicle, if you drive less, you pay less at the pumps. For EVs, you are taxed this flat rate whether you drive more or less. This AFRT is incremental with rebate for 1st year, double on 2nd year and finally a flat rate of more than 3x from the 3rd year onwards until you scrap.

- When the table says AFRT is to enhance parity with internal combustion vehicles due to the loss of petrol excise revenues, it is obvious that the intent is not promote the widespread adoption of EVs here

TLDR version

- Stick to your small cc petrol engined car if you just want a point A to B tool. Nothing to see here, lets move on. 😁

Petrol-Electric Hybrids

10          For petrol-electric hybrids that currently pay road tax based on their maximum electric power rating, we will align their road tax schedule with the revised variable component of the electric car road tax schedule. Since these vehicles remain largely petrol-fuelled, we do not intend to impose the additional flat component on them for now. Overall, these hybrids will have their road tax reduced by an average of 29%.

Hi guys,

sorry my england not so powerful, i got C6 for O levels . so i dont understand.

so Petrol-Hybrid cars like Toyota Prius got additional tax ?

how much? tax on battery or BHP / Torque?

how about Mild Hybrid Electric cars like Audi A6 / M3 (no additional BHP) vs Merc  (additional BHP) ?
