It’s not feasible for 🇸🇬 to have Korea’s 1.6T specs lar unless u’re willing to shelve out previously Hyundai’s Kona 1.6T prices which Komoco had poor sales of it and discontinued it.

Even for this 🇮🇳 made 1.4T specs at near $116K for 🇸🇬, I dread to think how C&C will price the Korea assembled 1.6T if they are importing this model and sure will suffer bad sales as pricing is even more non-competitive lar.

116k is already ridiculous on its own for a 1.4t. Even i30 with a downtuned 1.4t cost less than 100k.

My sentiments exactly and using the same engine as the i30 as well!

Once again, we have the world highest car prices and we often got the worst specs of any given model so that the AD can have max profit margin 😞 Welcome to SG

I dont know why you think AD is the problem. Tax is based on engine and OMV. What to do? Change LTA ==> need to change PAP 🙂

It's the profit margin lar bro... cos you can always compare with Hyundai and see that despite sharing the platform and parts, Hyundais are consistently cheaper for the same thing...

Its the profit margin bro. A typical B n B vehicle eg Hyundai Tucson 1.6T profit margin came in at a ridiculous $27k even at 30k COE.

They certainly can reduce their selling price alot if they are less greedy at the margins.

Don't you find that the overall prices of many new cars and SUV are actually higher today at lower COE as compared to say, 4-5 yrs ago where COE prices were easily 60-70k? Yes, that SMLJ CEVS penalty comes into play, but CEVS max penalty is at $20k max. The average selling prices for new cars with similar OMV range as cars from 5-6 yrs ago are certainly way more than $20k

Businesses that hangs around (dont go bankrupt) are never stupid. If pricing less means more sales and overall more profit, the sales director would have authorised it. He will look so good at the AGM and deserve big big bonus. He didn't bec he know he will get overall less.

There are many reason why sales do not go up more than the price go down. It could be people who buy BMWs will never buy Kia/Hyundai no matter how cheap it is priced (also bec it is cheap) The companies done their maths, they know there is only a limited pool of price sensitive people buying hyundais/Kia and they are only butchering themselves without more profit if they lower prices.

So why lower prices when they know you will lan lan buy their Kia/Hyundais? Mitsubishi Attrage has the lowest margins ... would you buy that? All businesses are in the business of making max profits. They have overheads to pay. So the only practical way for consumer is the "other guy" aka govt to take less so that savings can come down to consumer hence my comment on taxes. Election coming.... you can try 🙂

I would say the real reason is that COE allocations is only that much per bid session. No matter how an AD try, they can NEVER sell more cars than the COE allocation.

So the more our MIW reduces the COE quota, the higher the AD profit margins, since none of them can sell based on economic of scale anymore. There is a big difference of having say, 3000 Cat B COE for every bid session vs just 900 per session these days.

This is also the reason why, despite having the most expensive car prices on this planet, we often got the new models launches last, or one of the last in SE Asia. Manufacturers simply can't be bothered with our tiny market, and then we often have to instruct them to del this and that to keep the OMV down.

So who created this mess? Vote wisely... :D

Hyundai i30 1.4T is only $84K now.

If you look at how C&C price their cars, you know why Kia Cerato sales are dismay compared to Hyundai Avante. Last year's sales figures speaks for itself.

Bro jam1888, this is what I am referring to... you obviously must have profit margins but there's a sweet spot... which maximizes profit...

I dont know why they priced Cerato at 82K when for 2k more the i30 1.4T seem much better but... what is the problem? Buy i30 than. You guys really like Cerato?

What is tom dick harry to avoid answering you? I answered your question but obviously you have no ability to comprehend.

You still haven't answered mine though. What is your point?
