I drive accent.  Previous car was avante.  Traded it after 7.5 years for this accent.

At 4 years plus engine oil leaked.

At 5 years changed aircon compressor

At 6 years plus, transmission fluid leaked

At 7.5 years traded it in with faulty transmission.  Can drive but L is not working so it's only effectively D N R P only.

Yours is the HD gen (2007-10) avante? I thought it's quite reliable in general as I see a number of Coe renewed one running around, plus used as private hire cars a couple years back.

Should be. I bought mine in 2009.

Its reliable in the sense that if you fix everything it will be ok.  Maybe you should ask the owners if they spent a lot on repairs. But if fixed it will be ok.  Nothing major happened like wheel roll away while I was driving or engine catch fire.

OTOH the steering is light and the interior lighting is good and its quiet at idle so it really feels very fuel efficient and reliable.

Wanted manual car.  It was the last manual car available.

Nissan in my experience was a fuel guzzler.

Perodua even the Malaysians tell me dont buy it.

Then there was this accent.  But I was thinking until it was the last three unit (one red, one black and one white). The red one was demo car.  So yea I got the white one.

But not too bad la.  About 3 yrs plus liao no issue accept for handbrake where the button dropped off..........

If want manual, difficult to get liao. 3 years plus liao, think wear and tear should be coming soon?! Lol.

In a way I did regret.

My first car should have been a manual cos almost if not every car model had a manual version and was cheaper than the auto version.

When I got my second car, most models dont have a manual version anymore so you can't really look for a cheaper car cos since only a few models have the manual version, you are restricted to only these few models.

Who would have thought manual would die out so fast....

Btw I normally dont buy second hand cars cos I hear horror stories....

My current car also manual transmission, it is around 12 years old coming to 300,000 km this year, time for timing belt replacement again. So looking at changing to a new car soon, Honda City is one of the car in my shopping list.

The Thai factory doesnt even have a manual City for the local market, though you can still get a 1.5 manual Jazz S (previous shape) in Thailand.

I dunno about that.  Cos I was at ubi showroom and the Honda city was a manual. But when I asked the SE about it he said it was a display model and not for sale.

Dunno who produced that car.

Oh interesting they bought in the front bumper kit of RS for SV? Cause only RS has the front fog light black wings stripe in Thailand.

Apparently the black "patch" in the lower part of the front bumper may be easily interchangeable, as in other parts .. in Thailand the showroom has SV with the "winged" black patches with the fog lamps, or black RS grille etc .. doesnt seem like have to change the whole bumper.

Was that manual the current model or the previous model?

Thai factory does not produce current manual City for Thai market now.

Oh yea the SE also said while the colours are fixed, there may be future batches of car with different colours...

May not be happening (expanding color range) anytime soon as Singapore is currently getting all the colours for this City from the Thai factory except the flat white which is only for the S and V models not brought in to Singapore.

Heard korean car wear and tear very fast after 3rd year onwards? Since you have not so good experience in korean cars, how come still get another one le?!

I think the wear and tear is also due to his higher mileage.

Current model.  That's why I was surprised to see it there.  It was just a display model.  But it's not for sale.  But I never asked where it came from.

Checked LTA fuel cost calculator and noticed there's SV manual. Maybe it's for driving schools like how Jazz 1.5 RS manuals are being used by BBDC as learner cars.

Yeh, even Thailand is phasing out the manual transmission in their bread butter cars like Vios, City etc. Indonesia still offers the current Jazz and Vios with MT, just went thru their websites.

Yes, though if so it is likely special order.

BBDC will need some manual cars for manual learners but if BBDC ordered the City, wonder why they get the SV rather than the basic S with steel wheel etc.

In Thailand the auto S is B580,000 (about S$25,700) and the SV is B665,000 (S$29,500) not a small difference in % terms.
