It was in their port what. Its a misstep on our part taking things for granted.

China send spies over. American send spies over. We also evict right.

Offering an outright bribe to the PM is well very disturbing to say the least.

It's always better to play the independent game.

In term of defence (especially air defense), we are not independent.

Actually I feel usa is like a troublemaker.. Without usa troublemaker.. Perhaps the world would had progress at must faster pace as compared to now a lot of road blocks due to regulations, restrictions and etc.. Like maybe now many countries would had say 1/2 way into 5g instead of now stuck because of this usa troublemaker..

So get rid of the troublemaker and the world will progress and prosperous..

As I said earlier, it’s a matter of national security. F35 relies on 5 nano chipset.

World No. 1 & 2 are bullies

The world is round and money talks...

HUAWEI GETS A WAY OUT – U.S. NEW LAWS WILL BE COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE

... In all, Huawei seems to have a way around the U.S. latest ban. Besides TSMC, another major chip maker is Foxconn (another Taiwanese company) is ready to take Huawei’s orders. Recall that after the ban last year, Foxconn canceled all Huawei’s orders. However, Foxconn’s founder, Guo Taiming, has now said that the company is open to cooperate with Huawei and other Chinese companies. If TSMC does not take Huawei’s orders and Foxconn does, the U.S. new laws will be technically ineffective.

This also means that Huawei has new partners, and in the face of the sudden drop in Apple’s mobile phone orders, Foxconn also needs Huawei’s orders. Presently, Huawei has orders worth $700 million with TSMC.

In addition, it has also placed some orders with SMIC, a Chinese chipmaker. Although there is a gap between SMIC and TSMC, the former has made substantial progress in the 10nm / 7nm process. SMIC’s N + 1 process which is slightly behind  TSMC’s 7nm in terms of performance sold out in Q4 2020. Therefore, even if TSMC really cuts off supply to Huawei, we believe that SMIC and maybe Foxconn can help Huawei overcome the difficulties.

In recent years, the development speed of MediaTek is indeed amazing. With Huawei’s support, we can not underestimate what MediaTek can offer. Major Chinese manufacturers usually rely on MediaTek for low-end devices. However, the Redmi Note 8 series (mid-range) which uses a MediaTek chip was a great success. This series sold over $4 million is just eight months.

Furthermore, MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 5G chips have been Amazing. The Dimensity 1000, 1000+, 820, and most recently 800 are looking good. The Dimensity 820 is a high-end 5G chip using a 7nm process technology. It integrates the world’s top 5G modem. At the same time, it conserves power and the improvement is great.

Although the U.S. intends to completely cut off the Huawei chip supply chain, the company has alternatives. If TSMC fails, there is SMIC, MediaTek, and most recently Foxconn. It will be interesting to see how the whole brouhaha ends.

When you have a single power , there will be abuse. Just like politics when there is no opposition, there is no check and balance. Ownself check ownshelf. Weapons of mass destruction and all the kakis just support otherwise also kanna. The world will be better with strong oppositions, nobody can just do whatever they want. Bully is the word and the west tends to be big bully by nature. History proven.

Trudeau slams China's trial of Canadian held behind closed doors

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau criticised China for blocking access to the trial of Michael Spavor, a Canadian detained by Beijing since late 2018 on spying charges, a case that is part of a wider diplomatic spat between Washington and Beijing.

China arrested Spavor and fellow Canadian Michael Kovrig in December 2018, soon after Canadian police detained Meng Wanzhou, the chief financial officer of Chinese tech company Huawei Technologies, on a US warrant.

Canadian and other diplomats were not allowed to attend the trial on what China said were national security grounds, according to a Canadian envoy. Chinese courts have a conviction rate of over 99 per cent.

Kovrig, a former diplomat, is due to go on trial tomorrow in Beijing.

"It is disappointing that the trial Michael Spavor went through - and possibly the trial Michael Kovrig will go through on Monday - is happening in secret without transparency, without access by Canadian consular officials," Mr Trudeau told reporters. The lack of transparency was "completely unacceptable", he said.
