but the korean made i30 is a 1.4 turbo engine with dct which trumps all the other available options. hatchbacks are good cars for first time car owners though, small nimble and easy to navigate/park in sg's heavy city driving.

jazz 1.5 is priced pretty close to the i30 actually. jazz/fit 1.3 is in a niche market of its own with sufficient power for everyday drive + sufficient interior space for a small family of 4. agreeable that swift is tiny but the new 1.0 turbo makes it a joy to drive the expense of interior space. note is totally a piece of junk that is underpowered at 60+k, heck even buying a myvi makes more sense than buying the note if someone sees beyond the space.

jazz/fit 1.3 - 65k +/-

swift 1.0 - 70+k

jazz 1.5/i30 - 90k +/-

end of the day in this segment, its all about price vs functionality and jazz/fit 1.3 fit right well within that range at around 65k while polo/golf both close to 100k mark and makes more sense for folks to buy a sedan like avante/civic/octavia at that price.

how about mazda 2hb?

Turbocharged

1.6 Turbo, 6MT, 4WD. Exhaust sounds good. Don't think any PI will bring this in.

With a high powered force induction engine, it is anticipated the Yaris GR4 will achieve 0-100 km/h acceleration of approximately 5.5 seconds.

With a mid 5 seconds timing, it can go toe to toe with Honda Civic Type R (0 - 100 at 5.9 sec), Subaru WRX (0 - 100 at 5.9 sec) and Golf GTI (0 - 100 at 6.5 sec).

Toyota may have given Honda, Subaru and Volkswagen some serious competition in this class of cars. Hope it will be available in Singapore, this is the car

that I will gladly part my money for.

Impressive power to weight to ratio.

Very happy to see Toyota offer this with manual transmission too. Too often a lot of these sport cars come with automatic transmission with the fancy paddle shifters. Nothing better than driving stick on the tracks...

Also does anyone know if its true that there is a Jap spec for the GR Sport?? Apparently it has +15 brake horsepower???

For GR-Yaris, i believe selling price is no $130K onward no talk. Then people will struggle whether to part their money for this or other choices.

In Japan, RZ is selling for JPY 3.96m (SGD 51k).  RZ High Performance is selling for JPY 4.56m (SGD 59k).

BM will lost money if it starts from 130k.

rough calculation i've always seen and compare between AUS and SGP is about 3x. so if the yaris here is 50k then should be about 150k - 160k in SG given current coe prices.

At SGD150-160K, its fairly good value i reckon. It is unique in the sense that it is the only hot supermini around, with 4WD somemore.

Priced at about on par with the i30N PP, though smaller and lesser number of doors, but quicker, has the aforesaid adjustable 4WD and arguably more iconic. The other hot hatches are a class above and priced from $180K onwards.
